Clive Barker.
« on: April 03, 2009, 06:11:07 PM »
Movie recommendation:  The Midnight Meat Train.   Nevermind the title sounding like an all male adult film.  This is a film adaptation of the Clive Barker short story of the same name, and doggone if they didn't do a great job with this one.  It has elements of Lovecraft horror and even though I had read the story and knew the ending, it was good.

Catch it if you can.
May the Dark Lords of Lead-Free Pewter smile kindly upon you.

I vaguely remember this tale.  Wasn't it in one of his Books of Blood?

Hm... I think that Wally World has it for sale cheap (ten bucks-ish).

Might have to check it out.

But you're right - it does sound like an all-male porn title.  :)

Agreed - this is one of my (if not my absolute) favorite Clive Barker stories. The movie was pretty well done - not campy at all. I enjoyed it and look forward to watching it again.
It was from the Books of Blood....which I highly recommend to anyone who likes the genre.

And for the record, Barker has quite a lot of odd titles ("Pig Blood Blues" anyone?) - but his stories are truly dark, twisted and frightening. He is my favorite horror author.

Now, let me start by saying i have not read alot of Barkers stuff (if any at all) but i have liked a few of his movies..this one however i did not like.  Not sure why, it wasn't very memorable... therefor i can't recall why.. i just remember it seeming boring.  To each his own right?

I will try to catch it. Is it at the big screen or a rental?
Always look out for number one, but don't step in number two.

Midnight Meat Train is out on DVD to be bought or rented.
I saw it this past weekend. Never read the story,  but it was a pretty cool rental flick.
