Squad Size
« on: September 23, 2005, 08:39:41 AM »
I'm somewhat confused when it comes to squad size.

For example, what is the max size for a imperial regulars?

Is it

12 regulars + 1 sgt + 2 HMG + 2 GL + 3 Medics = 20 models

or

total of 12 models which includes 4 regulars,  1 sgt, 2 HMG, 2 GL and 3 Medics.

thanks

for grunts you must have 4 non-specialists per every one specialist.

with a maximum of 12 regulars and one Squad Leader (who counts as a non-specialist) you can have up to 3 specialists (whichever up to their individual type limitations)

The maximum size of a Regular Squad is 16 models.  12 regulars, 1 SGT, 3 Specialists.

Elites only require 3 non-specialists per each Specialist.

problematicaly, it's not.

The sentance was left out when it went to the printers.  It was in the FAQ though.  so turn to page 36 and write

 Grunt non-Specialist to Specialist ratio = 4:1
 Elite non-Specialist to Specialst ratio = 3:1

  Squad leaders count as Non-Specialists

(and seein as how E.Prime, owns the company and wrote the game, you can consider it as cannon.)

PFC joe,

I have problem trying to convince my fellow player that AIM is not cumulative.  My friends played in a tourney back in 1st edition and was allow to double AIM and get the bonus twice.  In those days, AIM does damage as well.  Since then, that topic never really went away...

Just trying to cover my six...

thanks

Aim is not cumulative.
You do not get +6 for spending two actions.
It does carry over if you don't kill the target with the first hit though.
The Sniper ability does not give you a +6 either.

Aim does not confer extra damage either.
Critical Hits (a natural one on a d20 roll) add 4 damage to the attack.

But on the plus side a double aim with a sniper allows ou to pick your target w/o restrictions other than the max range of the weapon

PFC joe,

I was refering to 1st edition where AIM gave you bonus in DAM as well.  There is nothing wrong with AIM.  That was an example that my group is having a meltdown with.

While the ratio is not bullet pointed, it is obvious if you compare elite units to grunt ones. That should end arguments. As for the cumulative AIM thing...Page 42, Section 6, Subsection.2.4, second paragraph, first sentence...AIM IS NOT CUMULATIVE.

Prime,

I know that AIM is not cumulative.  One time, my friends entered a tourney back in 1st edition time, the judge allowed double AIM and cumulative.  I pointed that out to my friend and had to tell my friend what page in 1st edition and 2nd edition.  I used that as an example because the specialist ratio is left out in UWZ edition.

So, NO QUESTION ABOUT AIM, ok?  No need for clarification.

thanks

You did.

Here is a question for you.  Does the Sgt. count as a regular?  For example, Blood Berets's is 4~8 regular but 2 optional HMG and 1 optional tank hunter?

I'm assuming if I have 1 Sgt + 8 regulars, I can field all 3 specialists then?

thank
