I put together my two deathseeker trolls and they are awesome. Right size too.
I found the elves (lotus guard) were small, more the size of many of the newer sized models you get for games like Infinity, but the sculpts were good. Perhaps we can say there were just midget elves, or goblins that decided to join the elven army. (jokes!!!!) I do like that models but choose not to paint them, as they have a good use but not in my army.
I think I'll buy the dream warriors for that purpose (the purpose I wish to use them for I mean). I just bought a dream warrior leader and he fills the purpose I want nicely.
I found the bloodbone totem was nice, works great for a totem, and is large enough, but he is not as large as the Tusked or Horned Totems. He is like a slightly smaller version. He would still qualify as Size 4 model (as he is larger than the Troll model for example). In the end I wish he was a bit larger.
That means if you finish the War Tokhra. Please make it at least the size of the Goblin myrmidon or Bull Myrmidon, but really should be slightly larger as he will have one or more dwarves ontop.
Perhaps a mix of metal and resin would work.
For the deathseeker troll after much consideration I used the arm blades from the bloodtotem for the arm scythes rather than the curved blades you get (and yes you get two types). Why? even though they do match that curved main blade, I didn't care for their design. The very curvy one I did not like much, and the more single curve one curves downward and could have been sculpted so that it reached over the fist. In the end it didn't look right. I liked that second blade choice (the one without so many curves to it) but it didn't fit right on the arm and didn't extend over the hand. Then I tried the blades from the bloodbone and it looked great so I used that. If you made another arm bit like the one on the totem but made the slant of it not so tilted so it was more parallel to the arm itself and it extended out over the arm and hand and had a more curved black, like a smaller version of the big two handed blade, that would be the PERFECT BLADE.
I am happy with my models. I decided not to put the bloodtotem together since I already have the horned and tusked totems, and the model isn't as 'bear' like. It think its a great model for someone who doesn't own the horneed totem and thus would use it. The bloodbone totem should have claws but not ones like the horned totem. A bear has a neat wide like 6 finger claw (research bear claws) and I can see that totem with those, and the fact it has a Hug attack so if it looked like it was going to give a huge, or about to swipe someone with a claw that would be good. So it is a great sculpt, but I don't think it fit exactly.
That is my honest opinion. I will paint up my deathseeker trolls.
I went with the head choice that does not have the helmet and mask. I felt the normal head was better to my taste but I did like having that choice. Also when I put together one of the trolls arm the two handed falchion bit gave me some trouble but the other troll did not. I did not care for how long the hair piece was for the top of the head. I felt it was too long. I cut it down a bit and afterward realized it was the beard piece. So I just left the beard piece off and it looks really good like that. It is like the head hair piece but shorter. I liked this a lot and just did the same for the other. I know I could have used the other head piece and perhaps a longer hair piece for that one but it really looked good so I used it for both.
Thus perhaps you should have another hair piece for the top that is shorter, but then I suppose someone could just do what I did.
Just wanted to post my experience putting these models together. Overall, they look good when done. I might decide to do something with the bloodbone totem eventually. Since I used two of their claw bits for the troll my will simply have 2 blades per arm. It should still look good since 2 claws I think actually matches one of the pics I've seen for that model.
If you ever do a arm blade piece for the troll like I suggested I will replace my pieces on my troll yet I am happy with how they turned out.
@Delthos If I had to vote for another model I'd say Swamp Fiend. Keep in mind it is a sizable model, but not massive. I personally own one. I used an old Grendel spider and some blowpipers and it turns out perfect. I saw a 60 dollar giant reaper spider that would also work. So if you do it, I'd assume the final product would at least by a 60+ dollar model. People who want one would pay that if it were the right size. Size of the model is very important. The trolls turned out perfect. They are impressive looking.
I personally would want the War Tokhra and totem warriors with that mounted crossbow. Out of everything else, that is it. An impaler would be nice but the guy who did the vulture marksman I think would be a good person to do a model like the impaler. IMO.
