a bittersweet post...
« on: November 13, 2011, 07:49:19 AM »
Hi folks,

8 years ago, a great game was born, warzone ultimate edition. since that time iīm with you in the forum. it was a great time here but hereīs my conclusion where the ride ends.....

so whatīs new to game since 2003 ? i took some time to browse the forum and find 1 new brotherhood spell (Kinetic Barrier). sure some figures were adjusted but whatīs really new is one spell. I am a little bit sad about this...

there was hope for the game from time to time  ( talking about "there and back again" a post that goes right to the heart and "new site launched") that there will be new fanmade warzone rules and units. i know you do this all in your free time and i give much respect to that, but nobody has ever asked for help. here are a lot of guys ( and maybe girls ) who have many ideas for new units, spells, equipment, rules and whatever. and when i see what some crazy dudes do in modeling to get there army complete i have no worries that there will be no figures for new units. Or maybe look to other game systems and see what figures will be a great addition. ( weīve been doing this all the time looking for proxies ). Warzone needs a fresh wind !

also there is almost nothing going on here because anything that can be asked was asked. sure some open discussions here and there and some trade and modeling post but thereīs  almost nothing left to say. it is still a great game and we still playing. if nothing changes the forum will die.

I would appreciate your opinion and end my post with a little hope

Bagomba

I use the forum to find certain things. It is a great database. Pics of forces, answer rule questions, etc.

I am not sure how to take this post (it may be a translation problem).

As for the game, I cannot argue your personal opinion, and I will not try.  As for the respect to those who still put their efforts toward a game they love, I am with you.

Regarding the open questions, I will take the responsibility for this, as I have done for other issues.  Lately, I appear to be one of few who take the time to answer questions, yet I am no more knowledgeable than any of the others who step up to help out.  Many of the answers I have provided have been nitpicked ad nauseum, but I still attempt to find solutons that make sense, provide clarity and put to rest in-game arguments.  Granted, some of the onus falls upon the players to achieve their own happiness with the rules.

Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the necessary motivation to search the entire forums for open issues.  When I login, I check recent posts which I have not yet read. If there is something I can add to the discussion, I do.  If I am unable to settle the issue, I make the attempt to get it from the boss.  Unfortunately, this then becomes a matter of he and I find mutually available time to discuss the issues, and, therefore, takes a longer amount of time to resolve than many are willing to grant.

Suffice to say that I know that there are several issues that are pressing and are in need of clarification.  You listed many of them in your post.  Unfortunately, you provided no liks to the issues, nor much of a description.

I will answer (to the absolute best of my ability) any topics you feel are not clear.  I ask that you provide me links to the original questions or to repost them in the FAQ Section.  I specialize in UWZ (not so much Chronopia).  That said, if it is a Chronopia question, I will endeavor to get input from the Chronopia specialist(s).

First of all I really understand the feelings of Bagomba. I think most members of the forum had moments of hope that Warzone will be reborn after some of the announcements of the past. But today the forum is a quiet and clam place. Horned God said it right (but not by purpose  ;) ). The forum is getting more and more a database to look up things. There are not many discussions anymore.
That are the moments where people are getting desperate how the future of Warzone will be. Hopefully it isn't a slow and quiet end.

Please show me that I am wrong!

Most of all people are looking for some new units and rules (at least I think that). This great game system has a fantastic foundation but there should be some progress at the top. Most people would be willing to test the new stuff. Just distribute the work in small groups and they give their experience back.

Dear dmcgee1 if you search for the topics in the list you have most of the time the direct hit of the open questions. Just copy and past. I tried it with a few of them.
At the topics which are game questions (and not FAQ) I will write my opinion (if not done in the past) to push them.

I should say itīs up to the members. There may be little to say, as most of the pertinent rules questions have been answered (or so I assume), but one can always share battle reports, scenario ideas and the like.

Dear dmcgee1 if you search for the topics in the list you have most of the time the direct hit of the open questions. Just copy and past. I tried it with a few of them.
At the topics which are game questions (and not FAQ) I will write my opinion (if not done in the past) to push them.

With all due respect, and without trying to sound as if anyone's opinions are any less important than any others', I am simply requesting that if there is an unresolved issue, it should be asked in the FAQ section or the game section.

Bagomba has provided the links, in an update to the earlier post.  I will, indeed, try to answer them to the best of my ability.

I would like to remind everyone that, as a member of the FAQ Team, I am no more important nor are my interpretations any more accurate than the people who play, regularly.  I am reminded of that - constantly - when I post answers to questions.  It seems that there are some who will never be satisfied with answers, especially if they do not completely encompass every conceiveable situation.  I can live with that, and will remind those who do so that thre is a solution for rules which do not cover thoise situations - the rolling of a D20 to resolve the dispute.

Yes, I realize that this is merely a band-aid for a problem which could recur.  That said, it is, still, incumbent upon the players to resolve issues which could arise during the game, prior to the game.  Communicate with your opponent to resolve key issues prior to rolling the first D20.

Lastly, some of these questions are from so long ago (almost six years for at least one of them), to hold me or anyone else responsible is simply unfair.  In six years, no one has mentioned it, therefore, most probably cnsider it a dead point.  I cannot be expected to go through the entire archive searching for unresolved issues.

In summation:

Ask game-related questions in the appropriate sections (Warzone FAQ or Warzone Game Questions).
If I make a ruling, feel free to discuss it, and to point out my mistakes (not my opinions) - I am a player, like the rest of you.
Because it is a game played by very experienced and knowledgeable players, invariably, certain situations are going to arise which are not covered by an actual rule.  These situations are, in fact, covered by one rule - the Peacemaker.

I have reviewed each topic and responded to each.  Please, let me know if further clarification is needed on any of them (or all).

Thanks.
