Skin tone advice
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:18:26 AM »
Just wondering if anyone had any good tips or methods for painting a Hispanic/Latino skin tone. I've tried darkening the Caucasian tone and lightening the African one, but neither looked right. Help?

I havenīt painted miniatures in a while, but you could try darkening Caucasian skin with violet, purple and / or green. Sounds crazy, but it actually looks natural. I was working with Ral Partha paints at that time, with the notable exception of G***s W******p Elf Flesh for the lighter skin tones. The advice is actually from Dirk Stiller http://www.theminiaturegallery.de/mainindex.html and has worked pretty good for me.

Adding olive, and as mentioned above purple, to a Caucasian base should get you what you want.
