Aura of darkness
« on: September 22, 2010, 06:12:35 AM »
Hello, during a game, a group of Mourning Wolves came down on a legionnaire squad. When they started fighting the golem, things bogged down to a dice rolling madness.

Do we need to make a LD check for every attack or every action attempted against the golem? The rule mentions that you loose an action, rather than an attack.

We thought it was every attack, and given the secondary attack ability of mourning wolves, you can guess that it was very tedious to go through the whole unit's activation.

There are a few issues, here:

The Power states that the Action is wasted, therefore there could not be a Secondary Attack, as there was no Primary Attack for the given Action.

Was the entire squad able to attack the Golem?  That's a lot of movement to get them all to be able to surround the Golem.  According to the rules for Close Combat, only five of the Mourning Wolves would have been able to attack, assuming that the Golem was in the open.

Make the LD Test for every Action, not every Attack.
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

That makes it much better.

The reason we had lenght issue, is that we tested LD for attacks instead of action: sometimes they passed their test for the primary attack, but given our misinterpretation, we rolled again the secondary.

Thanks for the clear out.
