Using an Automatic Cutter to make terrain details
« on: May 21, 2010, 02:35:09 PM »
I have a Silhouette SD craft cutter I got for cutting paper terrain.  I thought I may be able to use it elsewhere in gaming, here is something I came up with.  Small intricate cuts are hard on the hands, but great to finish off a terrain piece, so I tried a few windows (these are from www.hirstarts.com)

I think it would be great for making grates, framing in doors and windows, really it could add a little detail to almost any flat 'empty' space.

Would love to see an Imperial eagle or a MegaCorp logo to mount on a building.

How thick can the card/paper be?

Is it this one you have?

Nifty. I've tried cutting out the Hirst Arts tracery by hand and gave up and didn't any on my cathedral.

Coil, that is what I have.  And it can only cut standard Card stock, so it is not overly thick, but you can always layer it, I recently cut shingle sheets for my terrain, though I have yet to actually use them for anything.
