Which Edition
« on: January 23, 2009, 03:02:31 PM »
Ok, i've had a huge break away from warzone and i will be selling off part of my army to reinvest on my 2 main armies. Now one thing i have noticed from 1st edition warzone was that there was no army composition e.g. no limitations as such, whereas now there are troops/elites/individuals/support units. I have managed to get a copy of both 2nd edition rules and 3rd edition (ultimate warzone?) so im wondering should i skip 2nd edition completely and move onto 3rd. I can't wait to start playing again.

Most of the players on here seem to be playing UWZ or 3rd Ed.  2nd Ed. doesn't have all the unit details avail that 3rd does.

They are.

I personally prefer 2nd edition. It's clean and simple. UWZ has a bitt too much detail if you ask me. Well, I haven't got around to reading the whole ting yet, anyway but that's the impression I got.

The one thing all the editions have got in common, is that they are all very fast and easy when you know the rules.

UWZ just needs more reading and getting into. There are alot of details, but start with the basics. Army building, movement, attack ++ Play a couple of 500p games and see if you like it. Afterwards you can "build" on the game and include more. The biggest difference between 1rst2nd vs. 3rd is that 3rd gives you alot more freedom and more "soul" to the game IMO.  :)

I liked the second edition for Capitol.
The troops had more differences than in UWZ and the vehicle rules were better.
The parachuter rules matched my oppinion, too.
And the Manta deployment was nice, esp. with Assault Marines.
But Capitol and Bauhaus were the only factions with enough troops because of the Mars and Venus book.
The other ones didn't have much choice. So all in all UWZ is the best choice.
In first edition the individuals were overpowered and there were a lot of broken models.
Marines! Lets kick some A S S!

inside 1k points.... it was Valpugis, Ragathol (iirc) and 4 Pretorian Stalkers.

Time-death was the key component... the Stalkers were good for tearing up troops with the MG's, Raggy was the CC monster and of course, Val and his magical meanness.

If he won Init, Val tosses Time Death on Raggy and he goes tearing through your lines.... then it was a give orders to a Stalker Team to shred you.

When I beat him,  I managed init and smoked Ragathol fast.  Val used Timedeath on himnself and came rushing forward to shred me, only to 20-out on the fourth action.

he ate like a half-dozen Mk1 AT grenades after that.
