NEW YEARS GAMING RESOLUTIONS
« on: January 09, 2009, 09:28:19 AM »
It's awful quiet on here.  I imagine everyone is busy getting back to their lives after the holidays.  So I thought I'd spice the conversation ball up--

My new years gaming resolution is to STOP buying figs (I'll probably sell off a bunch I know I'll never use...maybe   ::) ) and start painting and playing more.  Maybe even get a few roleplay sessions in since I did none last year and I miss it.

What's yours?

I resolve to get the paint on the figs.  This will, probably, be a common resolution.

I resolve to involve my children, especially my son, as he is showing an interest in the games that I play.

I resolve to get more terrain built.

I resolve to keep my resolutions this time around.  ;D
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

Let it be resolved that I will...

Not pick up any new mini games thisy year.

Complete a Modular dungeon set using Hirst Arts Blocks to be suitable for both my D&D group and UWZ

Keep my promises to my D&D group and have new material to run at least once a month

Finish painting at least one army each for FOW and UWZ

I hereby resolve:

1. I will paint at least 500 of my figures this year.

2. I will run at least 6 UWZ games in the coming year.

3. I will buy no more than 25 new games this coming year.

4. I will join in on at least 25 more gaming sessions this year with new gamers.

So, that will be 2009 in gaming!

I resolve to paint twice as many figures as I purchase.  Except if I get into Epic, cuz that'll just botch my count.  But those must be painted within 2 weeks of arrival.

I will:
- Keep buying minis that I like
- I will sell or in other ways find new homes for some of my minis
- I will get more painting done and build more terrain as well
- I will paint more and I will try to push myself as a painter and learn new techniques
- I will play more games (both mini, board and rpg)
- I will go to Talamania
- I'll also try to get to Gencon again

I resolve to focus my energies, which are generally scattered and thus ineffective, into doing the following:

UWZ
Paint (at least) my Mishima and Dark Legion figs
Finally play this game!

Pulp
Complete my GASLIGHT pulp/horror game and play it as part of a campaign

General
Build more terrain (10mm & 28mm)
Paint more figs for multiple games

Video Games
Sytematically play and beat my PS2 & PS3 games (a bigger feat than it might sound)

All this in the scant few evening hours I have available after my lovely daughter and wife go to sleep and before I get too tired to want to start one of the above!

here's my list...

1.) Run games at Origins...
2.) Go to GenCon...

my third one is something that I've been thinking about for some time now...I am seriously considering starting a podcast about gaming...the problem is what topic, since I definitely have Gamers A.D.D. and am seriously involved with several types of games...

Attend Talamania
Actually finish every named project on my work list (undisclosed projects don't count because they may involve up to six months of work depending).
VeezCon products:  Not as good as if they had been actually produced by a real figure company, but better than using your shoe to proxy with...sort of!

If only you knew....

Last year I think I bought 200 new games.

The good news is that I have pretty much any game I will ever need.  The bad news is...even with infallible logic, I still obsess on new games coming out!

For a full list of the games: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/MadBrad?own=1&gallery=large&ff=1

The main gaming table, partly covered by several projects, is 6' x 16'.   Under the tables I have severals sets of GeoHex.

The massive wall of bookshelves is on the East wall of the basement, the smaller bookcase row is on the West wall.  On the West wall, though it is mostly out of the picture is a sheetmetal covered wall I use with magnetic couner holders for monster games.

This my friends, is my passion!

I will take a couple of more pictures tomorrow.

My resolution this year is to get at least one unit painted a month if not more.

Only buy miniatures that I need or really like the look of.

Get some miniatures released in the first quarter of the year.I have master castings away getting painted now.

Finally get a game or two in of Chronopia.

Sort out miniatures that I will never get around to and sell to make capitol for future greens, moulds and painting services.

Get a gaming area sorted and populated.
