Even the Great Gaming Satan gets it right once in a while
« on: October 14, 2008, 08:56:28 AM »
Recently I tried getting replacement blades for my Jeweler's saw from my FLGS.  After several attempts there were unable to get them in stock so I was forced to buy GW's saw.

Wow

X-acto offers a similar saw but it has several inherent flaws; it was meant for working with wood and there is a weak spot where the handle attaches to the blade that bends easily.  The GW saw overcomes both of these obstacles.  It has rugged teeth and cuts through everything I have put before it quickly and easily.  Better yet, it does not break when I am half-way through.

Downside; it costs 22 bucks USD, but since my conversions have come to a screeching halt since I broke the last of my other blades it is becomeing worth it.  Also, it is considerably wider and lacks the agility of the Jeweler's saw but again, better this than nothing until I can get new blades.  For simple conversion work it is worth the price although if you can find a similar saw that has the benefits of the design but lacks the GW price go for it.

I have to agree with you on this also. I have tried other saws from xacto (sp)? The only one I like is the wide blade one with screw slot for different blades. . The one from G.W. seems to work the best (thin blade).

I can't even remember which brand I have.  Next head I lop off I'll check the blademaker.  Good review Veez.

Got that one covered in threads all over the internet.  I think it was you who started that whole joke.  I remember footnoting it as someone else's but my CRS is acting up.

I do it every time, by the way.

I did say that quote wasn't mine, Veez, but I didn't mention you specifically.
