May your dice chip and shatter.

This is the BEST thread ever.  I'm a HUGE Dune fan, and in fact go by Fremen on most other boards.

Oh...I forgot I was going to comment on Dust.  I haven't actually played it, but I'm a fan of the weird war pulp kind of game, so it caught my eye.  Some friends have played it and were disappointed, echoing this review found on BBG:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/319970

Other people have liked it, and I think the comment was not that it was a bad game, it was a good world domination game, but that the theme wasn't pulled through very well.

It is by gaming I set my mind in motion. It is by Dust from FFG that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, stains become a warning. It is by gaming I set my mind in motion.

A spicy Dune reference.....karma to you Top!

I've played Dust.  I really wanted to like it, but it fell flat.  The genre is painted on (alt future with humanity fighting over the remnants of a war torn world) and the bits are goofy looking.  I was very disappointed in the game.  I'd play Axis & Allies before I'd play this again.  Try it before you buy it!

I remember a story from a friend of mine who had just finished the final touches on an elven character and set it down.  His hand bumped a pot of black paint, splattering the figure and ruining his work.  He looked at me and said, "Pain by paint induction-I see the logic of it!"

perhaps not the general opinion, but i found the books (esp. the ones after the first) really boring...

why? hm.. the writing style was not fast paced enough and a bit long-drawn..
also, a little facist-feeling..

Nick, as always, your opinion is your entitlement - no matter how wrong it is.  ;D

Just kidding, though I know many who'd disagree with you.
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!
