Deviation rule and para deploy
« on: February 13, 2008, 03:56:00 AM »
I am a little bit confused about the deviation rule.

There stands that the die determines the distance of the deviation, by only looking at the tens.
The most you can deviate is 10.

Should it be not 9 because the tens are between 0 and 9? Otherwise the units with para deploy never hit the center of the template and they will be only with a 1 or 2 in the area of the template at all.

Sounds a little bit hard for me.

the fist one comes down in the center every time, i remember?

other than that, i belive itīs ment to be 1-10..

the real problem is that uwz states "lots of terrain"

but with this much derivation many troops will hit terrain in such battlefields ->
*edit* of course, the size of the terrain is critical!  the 3īmove-rule. but than no more actios+prone..

Yes deviation can be deadly and disrupt the fielding.

But to phrase it a bit mor comfortable roll a D20.

The deviation is on a roll of 1-10 the number rolled.
On a roll of 11-20, substract 10 of the outcome to determine the amount ;-)

OK. I see. I will keep my fingers from Para Deployment. We have much to many things on our Board. So it would be suicide  :'( to use them.

not totally, itīs just not so good to drop them in the LOS and hope for their remaining actions.
with may terrain there wonīt be any..

but the troops donīt neccessarily die..  -> more like later infiltration

No model ever lands exactly where you want it to land.  Therefore, the deviation rule is correct - 1-10 inches from the center of the template.  I have used para-deploy countless times, and have nver had a problem with ot, as it works, now.

Incorrect.  The first model deviates just like any other model would.

Correct.

As stated, earlier, I do not have many problems using para-deploy the way that it is written.  I wonder why some of you seem to have issues with it.  I have lost models to the enemy, some to terrain, and still others to the other-wordly "off-board."  It happens.  Plan better.  ;)

I agree with dmcgee - I'veused PD often and to good effect - it's a question of choosing a good DZ (and yes a little luck).
