Origins 2006
« on: November 22, 2005, 06:12:05 AM »
It's time to begin planning for Origins 2006. If you are planning on attending Origins please PM me and let me know. Also let me know if you are just wanting to play or if you want to assist Excelsior and if so in what way.

The dates are from 28 June thru 02 July and the web addy is http://www.originsgames.com/

I hope to have 5 - 6 Warzone and 5 - 6 Chronopia events approved for inclusion in the pre-reg and then add at least a few more of each for the on-site book

Would it be possible to grab a table in the wargaming room to use for "pick up games"? So that way, if someone decides to take the plunge and buy some minis, we could have a thing of Krazy glue there so they can put 'em together, and maybe play a quick game with their new guys.

Been discussed - What's everybody think about it?

I think that it's a good idea...it might also be nice to have someone there painting some of the more common minis to show people how easy it is to paint the minis to a basic level (what they do from there is their own perogative)...

and if nothing else, it'll give people something to watch and do(the painting) and then they can play right there, and get familiar with the rules.

that was my thought about it...I've been to that English-only game fair held out on the east coast, and they had a small area off to the side of the convention hall in which people could go and assemble, prime and start getting some color on new minis...

Now, I'm not suggesting sitting off to the side of the display area behind the gaming tables spraying enough primer to get all of the EE people high on fumes (remember kiddos, huffing is BAD), but I think that if someone was sitting there painting some pre-primed minis, the people standing around watching the new player demos can see how easy it is to get the minis painted to a resonable level...

The more events and more varied events that we can adequetly man and run the better.  I don't see a prob with this.

If I'm there, count me in!

Chances are, I'll mostly be signed up for Warzone stuff anyway. :)

"Don't lean on the Swede!"

That's an old addage I heard growing up... apparently they don't like it. ;)

Seriously, if he could pay the cash to make it, I couldn't do any less than the same (even though I am extremely poor).

Yes it is an ancient saying, in Swedish it goes "Dun't leun oon zee Svede" there is a second line however "hut cheecks ixcepted frum zee roole".  ;)

I would love to go to one of the big American cons and meet all the great people from the forums. The cost is one problem, although it could probably be overcome, the bigger problem is motivating said expense and time to Mrs Coil. :)

Now if anyone can arrange to have a health economics conference arranged in Ohio the week before or after Origins it would be great because then I could get my boss to pay the trip. :)
