Gencon 2007
« on: July 29, 2007, 06:55:03 AM »
I don't see any Warzone events in Gencon. Is that because no one runs one there?
Or am I looking in the wrong place?

Origins and Dexcon seem to be the events that most of us go to instead of GenCon. There are numerous reasons. For myself, I hate the way they run the Minis Hall. The last 3 times I was there, over half the Mini Hall was reserved for Clix action and everyone else was jammed together. The tables were set in long rows and you could not arrange your tables to the needed dimensions for your games -- you had a 3x6 table and that's it. The tables were set end to end in rows like cafeteria tables so you had the edge of one game bumping into the edge of another. The rows were so close together that you could not sit two large men (which many of us are) together back to back. You had to store your figs and terrain under the table where players would kick them. I asked to move to a portion of the Clix area that was not being used and was told no, that that area was reserved. When I pointed out that no one was using the tables I requested in the slot in question I was told that troublemakers would be escorted out. I live less than 4 hrs from Indy but frankly until I hear that they have had a major attitude adjustment I will travel twice the distance and even pay more for the weekend to go play anywhere else.

Where are you located and how far are you wiling to travel? I'm sure this group can point you to some good local/regional cons in your area.

More than likely I will be showing up for a day, possibly two.  I'm not bringing my gear but I'd be more than happy to talk shop and see how we can get you involved in some games.

I live close to Cincinnati, so I can make it easily (sort of) to Originns and Gencon (2 hours trip...).
I saw the group at Origins, and that's why I found this board.

IF  Southpaw and I can get life under control we might drop by for Saturday just to hang out and meet friends.

Then I probably met you at Origins.  I was the one running around like a headless chicken.  I do recall speaking to someone from Cincinnati.  We will definetly have to get together and talk shop.  I can bring a couple of small forces with me and see if we can borrow someone's table if you would like to try and get in a game.

@ TOP

That would be supercool if you gents could make it.  I won't count on it but I'll cross my fingers.  :)
