Let me echo this concern.

Actually it's the other way around.  UL's don't say a thing, but they're smart enough to point a gun and shoot.

Handled properly, this will be a franchise for many years and we are already in discussions with suitable partners,” said Fredrik Malmberg, Head of Licensing & Creative Affairs.
Paradox talking about "handling properly" the MC licence. They have no fear of being ridiculous. It would have been quite difficult to handle it worse than they have so far ;o)

It would be wise not to stur things up by making comments on matters that you do not know all the details about.

Very good advice there.

There is a lot of things going on both at Excelsior and Paradox that you do not know all the details about.

Lately there's been quite a lot of effort focused on the Conan property from Paradox but MC is the next step for them (which they describe in their prospectus for stock market listing that I read recently) and clearly there is progress on the movie front at last.

Does this mean they intend to re-address the on-line game they were developing I wonder?

There really is a lot riding on this feature if you think about it.  A well-done, thought out movie could push the entire genre far whereas some Megaforce-esque schlock will certainly not kill it but definitely will do a great deal of harm.

Though I will point out that D&D the movie's abysmal failure did not impact the market that much.

If the movie ever comes out I am sure they will get someone to make a computer game and if it is moderately successful I am sure we will see lots of other merchandise as well. That is the idea for a company like Paradox, develop brands and sell the right to use them.

I do not think a bad movie will have much of a negative impact on Warzone. After all those of us who already play it will know that the game is good and that the movie is crap. Everyone thinks the D&D movie was crap but they understood that the game is still fun.

.....“With a budget of over 200 million SEK, this movie is a very large external investment in our property. We will use this investment and the new, growing interest in Mutant Chronicles to focus on the future development of the property,“ said Peter Sederowsky, Chairman of the Board.

BTW has anyone an idea what 200 million SEK are?

 ;)

200,000,000.00 SEK
Sweden Kronor  = 24,962,641.13 USD
United States Dollars
1 SEK = 0.124813 USD   1 USD = 8.01197 SEK

25 Mill is a rather modest budget, but then again with tech. today you can do a lot for a little.

*Nod* as long as the set pieces and props are good.  I really don't think the movie will need any extreme amounts of CGI, or any kinds of new CGI Tech.
