Sniper Rifle Load Outs

In the load outs for the sniper rifles, there is list for a silencer.  However it also states that you can't have a silencer for your primary sniper rifle.  I'm a little confused here.  I have not seen a figure with more than 1 sniper rifle, so what's the silencer for?

This is one of the most useless loadouts in the entire book - in order to use it, the sniper would have to be a stalker, lurker or unseen assailant. No such models, unfortunately...
It would make so much more sense, if the silencer has been listed simply as a loadout for pistols...

I play Mishima.  My secondary load out is a Katana.  It's  a pretty pointless loadout.

It would be pointless even if you had a pistol for your secondary weapon, since silencers are only useful to units with stalk, stealth or unseen assailant, and there are no snipers with those abilites, its kind of a useless ability at this point.  If in the future there are snipers with those SA it will become a much more useful loadout.

Play Imperial.  Clan MacGuire, specifically.  They have the Dunsirn Hunters, who have infiltrate and get up to two sniper specialists per squad.

Just out of curiosity.. WHy would you want infiltarting snipers? Arent most snipers better from range? Just curious as to the tactice you would use such a SA for.

how about starting out in an elevated position with better LOS, or in hard cover, or both.  Yes you wan't to keep your snipers at range, but there are often positions outsider your deployment zone that offer you an advantage for your snipers.  Also there's the Capitol Ranger Sniper who's rifle really isn't that great at range, but he has infiltrate so you can put him in a good spot for both he and his squad to start dishing out some hurt a little sooner.

Exactly GSB.  The ability to deploy at elevation outside of your deployment zone is very cool.  I would play Imperials, but dont have the cash to start a new army yet.

The Calistonian Sundancer is an infiltrating sniper who I have used to great effect.  Sniping at medium range is their best rangeband since his Sniper rifle is +3 at medium.  Remember not all rifles are the same.

To echo earlier sentiments... elevation and hard cover is good.

that's a nice combo there...I love using them, especially in jungle terrain...

Thanks guys. I generally forget about other snipers. I started as Bauhaus and used their snipers very effectively from range. Thanks for the input. Ill have to remember todefend against tat possibility.

I've had the best effect with Capitol Rangers at 19 inches and a Captain at 13.  Reveal every enemy card around the   Captain and then G.O. to a squad of Rangers with a Manstalker rifle and you can put a hurt on your choice of units.

A) I can buy the silencer for the gun, but not another load-out for the rifle
B) I can buy the silencer for the gun, and another load-out for the rifle (e.g. data scope)

Dragoon Sniper (bauhaus)
1 pistol
1 sniper rifle (cannot have load-outs)

A) I can buy the silencer for the gun
B) I cannot buy the silencer for the gun
