Different units.
« on: July 03, 2007, 02:13:45 PM »
Since I am a new player and I am using 100% proxy minis I have a question.

After we divided up my minis into sects as close as we could get to the Chronopia factions, I would up with one player playing the elves and since I had tons of them he chose to play Drow.  We are using the Elves to the letter as far as the write ups.

This brings me to my question.  Any one have any advice about creating a Drider?  Or for that matter other custom units?

While I see no problem proxying figs in a friendly game, I would have to say that creating ad hoc units to bring new factions or subfactions into the game is not necessary. I would hope that you and your friends would enjoy Chronopia enough to play it as it was written. However if not then I wish you well but ask that this type of revision to the rules be done via PM, email, or in the Off Topic Banter section instead of here, in the forum area devoted to questions about the game.

Sorry, if this was the wrong place for this question.

My problem is I don't have any Offical Chronopia minis and can't really afford to seach down and buy enough to build 6 factions.  So we are going to play using proxy's.  As I said we are using the rules and write up's to the letter from the book.

I guess my question should have been, are there any drider like monsters in any of the source material.

Hello.

No there are no Drider like units, however you could proxy the Drider as a Dragonbane Knight or Dragonbane Warkiller.

You could also proxy it as a Damned.

My apologies mlnunn. I am the resident Old Crumudgeon when it comes to defending Thom and the game systems. I should have taken a bit more time to digest what you had posted before replying. As for minis -- list the factions/units you guys are all wanting to get into and maybe we can help you hunt down some of them without breaking your collective bank.

No need to apologize, I understand your feelings.

I am playing the First Born, and as I said there are 6 of us, so we are fielding a lot of factions.
We have Dwarfs, Sons Of Kronos, Elves, Stygian, and Devout.  No one picked the Blackbloods for some odd reason.

Have your group put together army lists and we will see what we can find.  ;)

But they're the coolest one! ;)

As for the Drider,  A Swamp Goblin Sentinel would be more apropriate.
