Apostle/Lord Heir, etc. buying criteria
« on: October 27, 2005, 12:30:42 PM »
If you buy an elite from an apostle or lord heir do you have to have a grunt from them too? Or can you for instance buy a squad of tokawhatever or horde and then by a elite from an apostle/lord heir.

I think I am just carrying over the second edition buying criteria which was present for the DL in this line of thought - It doesn't say anywhere that I can find that this is the case (meaning that it would be legal to not have a semai grunt to get a semai elite, so long as you have some kind of grunt).

Can anyone point me to some relavent place in the book or at least their opinion?

Thanks!

To get an apostle Elite you must have an apostle Grunt.
You can not use a Horde/Cult grunt for an Apostle Elite
Each force must be complete and respectable to the force purchasing criteria in their own right.

Lord heirs on the other hand draw specifically from the Mishiman grunts, as they don't have any grunt troops of their own.

Actually the Lord Heirs have their monks as grunts.  However, they do not need them in order to have their elites.  Everything else is correct though.

It's not written in, it was FAQ'd and as of yet I don't believe that it's been re written into the FAQ.  But that is the way it is.

Does an Apostle army meet the criteria for purchasing a unit from common support if it takes 1 horde grunt and 1 of its own grunt squads?

no.

Both grunt squads must come from either a horde or apostle force.  Each force list must be complete in and of itself.

IE

2 Templar squads will get ya a Pretorian Behemoth

but a Templar and a Necromutant squad alone won't

Not so for Bauhaus, Joe?  Afterall, they have no grunts other than Homebuilders.
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

That is just for Dark Legion in respects to Apostle and Cult/Horde squads.

The Corporations may select freely from grunts in their main forces and their seperate factions.
