[Capitol] Preferences
« on: September 20, 2005, 07:54:47 AM »
Well, its good to be back to the forums. Thus I took the chance of returning with a Poll Question concerning the subdivisions of the Capitol Armed Forces. As a fan of the new system that Warzone Forces vary themselves I would like the opinion of the Capitol (and not only) players for this Corporation. Could even be a chance to discuss the difference between them and even help people whi have hard times deciding which one to pick.

The Standard Infantry Forces are the epitome of the Capitol shooty doctrine. I would like to include the fine leadership packages provided to those boys and girls in the form of the sad Joe Kowalski and the cocroach Mria Del Torres. The Infantry is best suited to players who want a grunt-based army with numerous Support and Aistrike options.

The Navy seems to be the most easy to understand in terms of Doctrines. Mostly consisting of Special Units like the Assault Marines, their convict equivalents, the Free Marines (boy I hate those ... ) and the Sea Lions they are the premier bully shockforces. Players who want a Capitolian assault and first liners Force with fine short to medium range capabilities should pick the Navy. Also fine leadership is being provided in the form of Mitch Hunter and Nathan Parrish.

On the other side, the Army seems to be a different issue. Initially a heavy shooting force, the addition of my beloved Sunset Strikers, Martian Banshees and Desert Scorpions offers some serious field maneuverability, thus making the hammer and anvil startegy a fine basic options. Heavy support in the form of Air Support is much more possible to an Army Force due to the most medium to long range capabilities of the Army.

Anyway, the polls are yours to vote and the texts are yours to write. Have fun and let the conversation begin...

Congratulations for the work Excelsior...I am proud of you.

Free Marines are where it is at if only for fluff reasons. I really do like them best of all the Capitol units just for the story behind them.

Have to disagree.  I totally dig those Captain America paint schemes on the Rangers.
Some talk of Alexander, And some of Hercules
Of Hector and Lysander, And such great names as these.
But of all the world's great heroes, There's none that can compare
With a tow, row, row, row, row, row,
To the British Grenadier!

The Rangers are the single coolest models in the UWZ range. I have 12 of them in my 1000 pt army.

I like all 3 Parts of the captiol army nearly the same. Just the Navy is a bit preferd as i like beachhead and dschungle scenarios. The Sea Lions are my favorite Models there i always field at least 9 of them in my games.

Navy is the way to go - Assault Marines and Wailing Banshees working together are two most effective Capitolian effective units. It is a pity, that Free Marines are so slow and expensive  >:( - they're my favourite unit for fluff reasons, but they are not good enough for competitive play (they do not shoot better than grunts, have poor choice of specialists and are too slow for close combat).
Army is not that bad, but - while it allows for some nice tricks - it lacks serious punch. When facing DL, Bauhaus or Cybertronic, Army units simply do not live up to the expectations.

I could not disagree more. But that is just my opinion...

It's a toss up for me.

All forces have excellent leadership individuals.

The regular old Grunts Infantry are about asvanilla as they come but still can hold thier own.  The Dogs will foul up every single enemy advance, beit Infiltrate, Paradeployers or even Stalkers.  and those LI are fast little buggers with kick ass Hats.

The AssMar/Wailing Banshee combo is a powerful scenario force.  High manueverability and armor  coupled with high armor/ Leadership and Damage output.  Pound for pound the Free Marines are possibly one of the single most underated CC units in the game.  Ask any Mishiman who has been caught in a group beat down by those crazed psychopaths.  Stick them in a tight enviroment and just let them beat the imortal snot outta anything that gets close.

The Rangers are hands down the most effective unit for the CGF.  But they're only effective at pining down enemy advances, they have to be supported by some sorta quick advance, whic the rest of the CGF can do in spades, with possibly the single fastest land unit available in the game (Six Inches!... erm... of Movement!)  on the 13th div Banshees.  I've had mixed results with the Strikers and Scorpions.  For the most part they excell at digging in and holding out.

so yes.  those guys are my favorite =)

(I voted Navy as I tend to have more of those buggers painted)

My few cents....  And for the record- I voted Army.  ;D

I happen to like the Free Marines- there is character in spades there if you play them right.  Just something about the entire pardon if you survive (ala' Dirty Dozen) is cool for a background.  :)

However, I like my Rangers a bit more-  Captain Downing's 75th Ranger Battalion has won me more games against some rough opponents than not...  I have won a Local Tourney/Regional Championship (Dreamation) once with them and slapped the heck of of many other players with a ranger-based force.  The ability to flank and sucker out of position an opposing commander is priceless...

I also have won a National (Dexcon 8) with Cap Navy; however, their performance was not as tight as the army force was.

However, the voice of the Cardinal is warring with the Machine in my head; even money which I play when I get back.   :D

Ill testify to the ability of Cap Navy. I fell victim to them after handling some other pretty touch opponents. Ive never played a game with them but against them they had me thinking.

Archer hurry back I want my rematch :)

My first post in the new forum, jepeee.
Good to be online again.
All Capitol Forces are good. Each one has its own job to do.
I personaly like to play with many Special Forces, but I know
many Infantry with a lot of Support can be very devastating,
because of  the Heavy Inf is a very solid Squad and the Freedem Brigs are cheap M-50's.
I play Navy more often than Ground. My fav are the Assault Marines. A Squad with two HMG and a Captain
has a quiet good firepower. But Wailings are excelent objective takers and Free Marines are well to defend because of their ambush and CC.
I use the Ground for close quarter fights or "cleaning" an objective.
In the past I have often talked bad about the Sunset Strikers, but I changed my oppinion. They are very usefull, because of the two flamers in the Squad.
And Rangers, they are fine infiltrators.
Here is my little Black List of forces I never/rarely use:
Pegasus Scout Bike (A support slot for recognaince training ?)
Purple Shark (Can someone say me an advantage to the Great Grey?)
Sea Lions (Excelsior please put the Sniper to another force or make the SL better)
Desert Scorpions (Have tried them. I was not amussed)
Martian Banshees (Wailings are better, Martian are to expensive)
Colbys Guard (Only with very high Hostile E., sometimes)
Parachuters (It's hard to land them properly on our battlefield)
Marines! Lets kick some A S S!
