Battle Report - 1500 Imp vs. Cyb
« on: June 11, 2007, 03:24:06 AM »
*edit:

this report is about the second of two battles.
the first one was imperial attacking. it was a very clear victory and therefore no report..

however, some pics:
cybertronic, the     -=CHROME BOYS=-

--> this is part of battle one, report below:

one closer up at round 2 or so.. cybertronic is setting up at the defences, barly scratched..
(the blue ED & Vehicles close to the building are just terrain. they represent non-activated units due to the surprise attack..!)

(that awsome ball is my cancer MHMG)

a random scene of the battle, 3. or 4th round ~ :

you see the imperial heavy hitters reaching the breach...(here 1 walker+1transporter)
however, at the cost of most infatry..

in the back the BB droped down, but very, very poor.
(-> because most were in prone and not MP the cancer (turned back on the pix) could  easily kill them..)

in front you see some trenchers getting overrun by the 4 MM -> no chance.. before the chasseurs shot some down..
-> the MM served as a very good shield: HC+GS= -5 !! -> chasseurs got there in perfect shape

==> lecture: do not use a lot of ICS as meat shilds..

(he thought that the trenchers behind would provide exellent protection agains CC MM or MkII
however, i just shot them up---)

-------------
Battlereport
-------------
Ok, time for the rematch..

the fist battle, imperial tried to enter the base.
the setup was similar.

but now imperial is the defender and cybertronic attacks the base.

setup

end of round 1

some ics die due to EDD AV and cancer

end of round 2

4 W on the guardian walker with 3 AC shots at <=9 from the EDD AV
the southern lone ics agent gets a shot from an attila that moves over the entrenchment.

end of round 3

MM & Trencher fighting south.
MM in MP await them and charge subsequently.
because board-edge it was clear that they would be in 8ī

BB kill most of the chasseurs, but MkII are on the way..,
the cancer gives support fire

end of round 4

in round 4 the BB cap made wonderful 3 wounds on the mashinators with 1 shot..
the upper MkII charge the hurricane, only do 1 wound. in this round, the hurricane moves back & makes 2~3 W

end of round 5

the MKII finally killed the upper hurricane,

The pics are wonderful, they really tell the story!  I'm curious though, how did each side get so many support units?  Was this a gentleman's agreement to allow more support, instead of following the usual buying criteria?

  Thats what I am thinking....

And sometimes, for teh sake of a story-game like this, it makes perfect sense.  At somepoint, I plan on re-writing a series of story games based on a Free Marine mission.  Lord knows I got enough Free Marines (still have about 20 unpainted!)

hi,

thanks for the comments!

@ support

yes, i should have mentioned it.. i forgot. hereīs why:

we found that the normal rules resulted in too many small units to just allow more support choises.
therefore we play with 1 Support / 2 Units.

most units are a little bigger than minimum, though..
(6+1+1 BB, 7+1+2 chasseurs, 7+1+2 trenchers, 3*5+1 ics)

even though, the imp list is almost legal (5 grunts)
the cyb has only 3 grunts, but 6 units total and you could break up the chasseurs..

@story: the plot is somewhat loose, adepting to the armie i choose to play..
the imp player wants to stay with his force though (his 1. TT army!)

since the colonel once grabbed the mission objective (and got subsequently cought)
and since he almost everytime tried to hide somewhere,
he got into the center of attention (story)
thats also why there is no Colonel in this game

in the moment he, and OBJ1 are in the hands of cyb. DL already entered into imp territory, but they were too late, cyb snatched it away..

we will see if DL, Cyb or Imp get it..

I really dig the pics.  It really livens up a battle report.  Sounded like a rousing good brawl for all. ;D

I've always said that for scenario specific games, it's OK to tinker with the buying criteria, as long as it makes sense for the mission/game.  If it worked for you then no worries.
