Maplewood crew is thinking of taking the train down.
Does the train stop near the Convention center?
and isnt airport near by too?

I don't see an Amtrak stop anywhere in Columbus. The Convention Center is approx 10 minutes from Port Columbus Airport.

I'll most likely be flying in from St. Louis into Port Columbus, so if anyone wants to try to meet there we can. Topkick, ColdThunder, and the others from the Midwest should already be there and will be picking me up from the airpot.

How do you travel on plane with all your minis.
I'll be bringing a several armies with me and thinking between airport security (lots of metal) and limited carry-on space I  bringing all those minis on a plane is going to be an issue. Am I just over thinking this?

No, you're not overthinking it at all. Your thinking is exactly on track. Airports and minis generally do not mix well at all.

Topkick and ColdThunder are leaving a day before me, I will be with the family on the 4th of July and won't be leaving to Columbus until the next day. So they'll taking my minis and gear with them, so all I will have to bring with me is my luggage and carry on (I'm loved ;D).

If you are brining minis with you on a flight, take them in Army Transports or something similar, and make sure they are VERY well padded and secured, and be prepared to take every tray out for security checks. They will not allow you to carry on minis, secured or otherwise, so they'll all have to be checked in. And bring some Super Glue with you, you'll inevitably need it.

Yeah, it's difficult, but not impossible. Just don't expect everything to survive intact. Unless you're extremely lucky, repairs WILL be needed.

Not that I know of, but I will check. If so, will have to get mine renewed.

Appears that they are only required for air travelers entering or exiting the USA, not for flights within the USA. Whew.

Hello.

Passports are only for international flights and border crossings. Unless you intend to go Cancun or Montreal you don't need one.

the nearest Amtrak station that I know of is here in Cleveland, but I may be wrong there...

the airport is about 5 miles away from downtown, but depending on the time of day, it may be a pain in the *** to get from one to the other...

as for rides, I'm sure there could be arrangements made based on your arrival times...

As it stands now, based on flight times, I should arrive at Port Columbus at 1815 local time. I don't think the other Midwest guys wouldn't mind picking up an extra body or two, but I'll check to make sure.

Plan to have glue and with the painting seminars we should have paints for touch-ups. I have zero clue about the train station but maybe Stalker can find out. He is our man on the ground as it were, since he nows lives in Columbus. As for picking people we can probably taxi a few - We are a full service crew.   ;D
