Vehicles forward facing
« on: October 05, 2005, 11:37:46 PM »
In the main rules, the open vehicles have a forward facing of 360° and closed only 180°. In Capitol army list the Purple Shark or the Great Grey have a forward facing  of only 180° (which apply only to personnal weapons). Are they exceptions to the rules or I am missing some things ?

They are exceptions to the rule.  Especially as the weapons systems are hard mounted to the Vehicle as opposed to being pintle mounted.

Generally, details listed in the models description/special rules over ride standard rules.

So e.g. the Dragonbike can fire at 360° with the mounted HMG and RL?

Forward facing is not same as firing arc, I think...

In believe the firing arc is only 90 degree for the dragonbike.

Forward facing means just that- weapons that are facing the front end of a vehicle.  Most fixed weapon systems are like that in the game.

***

Weapons systems that are "fixed" (ie: Great Grey mg, Hurricane Walker's guns, Dragonbike systems, GT Offroad mg) only have a 90 degree arc of fire to the front (45 degrees to either side of the centerline of the front of model).

Weapons that are described to be in a turret are 360 degrees unless restricted in turret movement. (TA-6500, Vermin APC)

Walkers with weapons in arms (Meka, Eradicator) have a Limited fire-arc like infantry (ie: 180 degrees or) 90 degrees to either side of center-front.

In the case of bikes and open top vehicles like the GT, if the crew has guns and does not have the arc for the main weapon, they may fire their personal guns using one action as detailed in the rules (iirc).

+3 AV, not +4 (see page 93, unless it was FAQd).
Seems reasonable... i'd prefer some "official" answer on this, though...

so, is it +3 or +4, just to be sure?

Is this the final answer for fire arcs? And front facing?

Facing is a side of a vehicle that can be seen by someone else.  Firing arc is a defined arc within which a weapon may fire.
