Getting started
« on: October 01, 2005, 11:03:15 AM »
Hey there. When I was 10years old i collected warzone figurines( when target games was alive) and played the Doomtrooper card game. unfortunately Ilost em(the figurines). Yesterday i bought 100models of it from my friend (becose of enthusiam/nostaligia).  I havent played War Zone ever before so I need some help. How many models a standard army contains? I got over 20models from evry side(not including brotherhood and dark legion). So is twenty enough or do I need 100models like in warhammer?. I dont have the rulebook yet but im going to get one.

a thousand point game will usually have between 25~ 30 models.  it's the type of models that you need to worry about.

Check through the Online Catoloug and see about how many of what you have.

Imperial: about 15+ wolfbane commandos and 6wolfbairns and walker
Cybertronic: 7 Shock troops and 10 chasseurs and cuirassier and scorpion and light recon vehicle and dr diana and vince

... no time to count the others.

So can I play with that?

You can field a pretty decent Cybertronic force there, provided you have some squad leaders in that mix.

break the Chasseurs into two squads of five each.  Add a Chassuer Sergeant to each squad and maybe a specialist or two (proxy till ya get the figs in).  Those will be you're two grunt sqauds.

For a beginner the Shock Troopers might be a bit hard to handle, paratrooping smoke tossing pistol maniacs are a bit ackward the first time out.  Get two more Attillas to bring that squad up to three and use the Scorpion as their specialist.  You can take the Recon Vehicle as you like, I'd just as soon hold out for an EDD.  Use both the personalities, they're pretty darn useful.

For the Wolfpack.  As long as you have squad leaders and HMG's they're ready to field.  Get a couple Individuals (the Imperial Colonel and the Wolfbane vanquisher) and bring the walker along for support.  Just manuever under supporting fire from the walker until you can close range enough to charge.  Toss smoke with your Squad Leaders and Vanquisher.

oh one more thing,

The Hurricane Walker has a Smoke Launcher.  Use it to provide cover for your wolfpack as the majority of them have only sharp sticks for weapons and loinclothes and chest hair for armor.
