What is the applaud/smite option?
-
It affects your karma. For instance I have negative karma.... because i was a wiseguy and called on it by thom.
-
Kind of like a cosmic pat/smack on the head? I fear that this will lead down a bad road of personal vendettas and retribution for imagined slights.
-
Yes, I agree that people could abuse that. I would like to think better of our registered members though. Let's see if this faith will be rewarded or not. :)

Okay Big Kahuna :)
-
So what does it do then? Any bonuses for Applauding the Big Kahuna? ;)

To be truthful, I added this module because it sounded like a clever idea. Personally I assumed everyone more forum savy than myself (which I assume to be most) would know what to do with it. The fact that it has not been this way makes me a bit worried.
Personally, I think this feature should be used judiciously. Applause is one thing, but smiting should be rare. I assume a moderator would review this information when an incident occurs. Feel free to give kudos when you feel moved to do so. I applauded Mark Theurer for his post for example. Goodness should be spread like manure (IMHO).

Being Jed Clampett meself, I don't even know how to work this thang yet. But it sounds cool.
-
It's like rep on other forums. Usually it's either hoored around or ignored depending on the climate. You know someone makes a good discussion and you applaud them and make them feel good or someone comes on and says, 'Warzone suxxor! All minis games suxxor!' then you crush them with the smite option and hurt their feelings.
The idea is to show productive and positive posters over trolls and flame warriors.

I knew someone would have the answer....thank you!
;D

*dieing of laughter* ;D :D ;D

Someone smote me??? Why? What did I do? Was it the manure comment?
-
what happened to the praise/smite buttons?? i dont see them any more??
-
They went the way of the Dodo.
Someone must have misused the smite option. Hmmmmm I wonder......

Mine are still right where they always were ???
-
Whoa! Mine have blinked out for a moment too. I was thinkin' I was hallucinating.
-
Where should these buttons be located? I can't seem to find them.

Right under the Karma rating on the left. And they did disappear for me too.
Topkick, if they keep appearing on your screen, then it must be a result of your Crusader Aura special ability, which gives a +3 on all Spot checks ;o)
-
Where are you looking? I don't think you can karma yourself. I see the buttons included in everyone's post info but my own. On mine I just have the karma rating and the online icon. Based on that I suggest you look at the post immediately above yours and see if it is there. If it's not then I would ask Thom or a Mod if you have to have a certain number of posts to leave Karma Feedback. If it's not either of these - I'm stumped ???
-
i had them, i gave someone good karma, and then, gone. dont know if its no of posts, or current karma rating that drives it, as my karma is currently 0/0.
-
Maybe you can only give certain amounts to one person in a day/hour/whatever. They've never disappeared from my screen, however.
