Title: Orion's workbench
Post by: orion098 on June 07, 2012, 01:12:36 PM
I've been debating for a long time what to use for Devout blood hunters.  Recently I came across Leviathan Dragon brood riders again and decided to make the plunge.  Picked up 7 of them and some bits from the war store.

Here's the dragon brood rider. . . pretty good scale for a size 2 model, and has a similar "chronopia" feel to it.  Didn't really care for the head.  Not "devout" enough for my taste.  The miniature also comes with a spear, but the blood hunter has javelins, sword and shield.

Here's some examples of the bits from The War Store.  Right handed sword, head, and simple "milliput" epoxy putty "javelin quiver".

Here's a group of three ready and primed.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  Open to suggestions for a paint scheme, that's always hard for me to get something I can actually do myself, and like it.

Here's the leader with a Tormented and Necromancer I painted probably over 10 years ago.

Nice idea about using the Leviathan pieces.Good conversions too.

I had thougth that the Celtos pieces in the link below would be great proxy's for them too.

I've seen these models before and wasn't a huge fan....but the conversion with the new heads and the swords completely changes the look.  They came out really good!!!!

Me too I used the celtos pieces above, but I really like every good conversion and this one is something I couldn't think about even if knowing the pieces. Nice idea, and very good work.

Thank you all for the very nice words.  I have a full regimen of FB maces I am basing (8 regular, standard, leader, 2 greatmaces). . . after that I'll start to work out a color scheme or two for these guys.

They look like they would work better for elf dragons, but with the head swap they work well for the blood hunters.

It's been a long time since I've provided an update.  I think I finished painting this blood hunter leader right before our baby was born in Nov. 2012.

Hope to get a few more figures painted before our second little one makes its presence known toward the end of August.

Here's another update from some recent painting.  Beastlords converted to sword and shield.

You are correct, the mounts are Leviathan Dragon Brood.  If you go back to the beginning of this thread, you can see some conversion pics.

That was two years ago.  Can't go back that far.  Too much work.
