Title: Conversion Showoff!
Post by: joshuaslater on February 09, 2006, 12:14:28 PM
Conversion Showoff!
Here's a chance to show your creative conversions for both Warzone and Chronopia.  There are no prizes but a chance to show your work, and spur others on the forum to try new things and improve their skills.  This event will feature more latitude in that you can convert/sculpt using any model, so long as it is based on a RECOGNIZABLE  EE product (scratchbuilding is ok too).   The idea is to create new troops, fill in a model that hasn't been produced yet, or make changes to existing models/troops. The conversions can be small such as repositioning an arm or adding a new weapon to rebuilding the entire model. The model should also be painted.

In progress pics so that other can see how you've done it is also appreciated.

You may enter as many times as you want. The idea is to encourage new ideas after all.

All pics should be posted to the appropriate Chronopia/Warzone painting section on the forum, by March 15th.  The moderators will either create a poll so we can vote for favorites, or judge them.  Winners will receive bragging rights, and will obviously have a cool model to field whenever they want.

Remember to follow all safety instructions and don't jam the pin vice into your thumb, or get superglue in your eyes.  Also be careful with the hobby knives.  I've made too many blood sacrifices to the Dark Lords of Lead-Free Pewter myself.  Now get busy.

Maybe i should open a new thread for this, but i don't think it's worth it, as it's just a simple and maybe silly question: are warzone & chronopia models lead-free? would it be safe for kids to put them in their mouth (if unpainted) or at the least if they touch them and then put their hands in their mouths?

No lead.  Not doable in the US and I believe the switch from lead to pewter was a few years before Target's time.

Hey everybody, is there going to be any postings? Just wondering if my brother and I are going to have to pick up ya'lls slack ;D I will post a Swamp Goblin spearman drummer and standard(not much to the stan.) and a Mantis Guard Champion (holy hell was this guy hard) As for Dan he made a Firstborn avatar and maybe something else. Maybe we can raise some spirits, so I would encourage anyone who can enter to do so. Well Good luck to any who may enter.

Please post Morf.  I would like to see your conversions.  My be-mohawked Elf WIP was not shown a lot of love and my enthusiasm may have taken a hit with the license woes, but I'll post him anyway before the end of the month.  I know how lame that sounds missing my own "deadline".  Hopefully the forum will stay around a little longer to allow us to hang here.

Cheers.

I am not sure if we'll be able to post pics today, as we have to borrow the digi. But if ya'll wait we each wipped up something special, and I am not saying :P.

Excellent Morf.  I posted my Elf Conversion WIP on another thread, but I think we die hards got overlooked in light of recent events.  Take all the time you want.  If our forum goes down, we can post on Minirealms.  It would be good to keep the fires burning somewhere.  Cheers.

You have set the bar very high!!!  Please tell us where you found the parts.  Did you scavenge them from other companies, sculpt them yourself, what?!?!?!?!?!

This is one of the best conversions I've seen for Chronopia.  Period.

I've never seen anyone tackle this model at all.  On the Chronopia section of www.minirealms.com there is a nice Wolf Totem conversion.  Check that out too.

Cheers!!!

Ya big tease!  I'm guessing the Dwarf is a Roy Eastland sculpt for Chainmail.  That part's easy.  As for the rest, I'm eagerly waiting.  I think you will have to post pics of the finished product with a tutorial here, on minirealms.com and especially on Coki's site!!!!!!   It's too good to keep to yourself.

Yep the Dwarf is the D&D Chainmail one by Roy.The others are looking good for proxying as other troop types too.
I have a miniature that Roy did that I want to use as an ally for my Dwarves. It is a human with a staff with a boar on it.He is really cool and my thoughts are to use him as a Leader/Standard Bearer to go with a unit of Bowmen. This will give the Dwarves a much needed missile unit.
Any help with this would be apprieciated.

I have finished the Vulture Marksman and the War Torkha just needs the second rider.I would have posted pictures today but the batteries are dead and need charging. So they will be posted tommorrow.
The Wolf Blood Totem is Half done and I have started on a Wolf Scavenger figure.
The project after these are done is a big one and Top Secret at the moment. Then after that one is done it will be the largest I will have tried so far.
So many things to do and no time to do them.

I was hoping for some here as I have seen a lot this past year.  As for the lead-free question...the models made by Excelsior were lead free.  Targets were in the beginning (in the USA) but not necessarily in the end.  The models in Europe were not required to be lead-free and the target ones were not, which included the ones in Ireland now at Prince August.

If this link works, here's my Mauler for Chronopia.  Bad pic, model done ages ago.  Kinda cartoony, but at least I can put'em on the board!

There's so many great models out there, so little time, and so little money.  I just picked up some Hell Dorado figs.  The big "Brotherhood of the Wolf" wolf will have to be put together, and even sans one head, it'll do better as a Wolf Clan Totem than the Mordheim "Thing in the Woods" models I'm using now.  Those are just BIG rats....

Anyway, let's see what else we can come up with in the coming year.

P.S.  Andy--you really should try the Street Fight rules we've been kicking around.  Fast, smaller size skirmish that plays just as much fun as the bigger games.

I have not played any games of Chronopia or Warzone yet,Big or Small.
The Hell Dorado miniatures are very nicely done.I still have not got around to getting the last two releases.
I have been tracking down other oop games including Inferno Battles of the Abyss.Alex collects these too.

looking forward to making more conversions to fill in gaps in the New Year.

Well I got kind of stalled on my projects for this year.I have a few miniatures done to show off in a few days time.Need to buy some polyfiller for another delayed project too.

Seem to be on a roll now.Not been this focused for a long time.

 How is every-one else doing?

Been playing a fair bit of Warmachine lately, oddly enough.  I'm not particularly enthusiastic about the game or the miniatures, but all of my gaming buddies are into it, so I paintrd some Cryx stuff to use.

I'm half-assedly working on an Egyptian dungeon for my Aegyptus skirmish stuff, but mostly I'm trying to get caught up with my painting, and working on some designs foe Forge of Ice.  Nothing specifically for Chronopia on the painting table at the moment, unfortunately.
