I believe Paradox still owns the rights, but not sure what they can do with them.  ( I am sure some people here can tell them what to do...but that is another post, and probably not family friendly  :o )

After the disaster of a movie, failed game by one of the worlds most successful gaming companies, I think Paradox has milked about all the value they can from the IP. 

Next stop for the IP is unclear, AFAIK.   However the recent past has probably shown that even great concept cannot survive idiocy on such a grand scale. 

Maybe they will fire-sale the IP in an attempt to milk the last bit of value from the ruins.  Or maybe they will hope to find another sucker to pay big bucks for a franchise that is clearly damaged goods at this point.   We shall see.

If the past decade is anything to go by, then nothing good will come out of the MC property, officially that is. All the games and the great campaign world will be very much alive in our, the players', minds and gaming tables for a long long time though.
