Title: Slow moving object
Post by: Manic _Miner on January 20, 2009, 01:13:35 PM
Here are some pictures of the Devout Funeral Barge.Similar to the one in the book with a little difference. The Crystals at the front help the Necromancer channel the Dusk Realm energies through the Mystic Pool. The Soul from the Beast is also bound into the Crystals for a better tie to the Dusk Realms.Still a bit more to do to it.

Ooooh, I like it, what is the skeleton and why is he trying to have sex with the Necromancer?

The Skeleton is a Todd McFarlane Spawn toy from years ago. They still turn up on Ebay though.

The skeleton is not trying to have sex with the Necromancer it is the other way around   :o.

Looks more like it is giving birth instead of having sex with the Necromancer  :o

I would have liked to go for the one in the book.It is just too big.I think I could have left the legs off the skeleton and had it more buried in the ground.Might try that next time.

The base is perspex from a place I used to work at that did perspex signs. The land mass is styrafoam. The two are conected by some aluminium bent into shape.I was unsure what to use to hid the metal but came up with silicone put on in wave effect.

'Just hit the applaud button.  That's too cool.  I'm hoping you can fly over for Talamania.

Not sure I will be able to make Talamania this time.I was involved in a crash which has sent my car for repairs. The insurance has told me it will not be cost effective to have it repaired because of it's age. They have given me a few options but it looks like I will be out of pocket any way I go.

To say I am unhappy is an understatment  :'(.

Man that funeral barge is so good I just don't have the words.... :-\...great job!  What did you use for the standing black crystals?  I may have to try to make a few of those.

The crystals are made from styrafoam cut and shaped. Then painted with pva glue, undercoated, painted black then varnished to give it a shine.

Not a hard project to do but looking at it now I can see things that I would do different if I were to do another  ;).

Thanks for all the comments. What would be a good project to start next then?

After I saw your funeral barge I thought that making some Chronopia terrain would be a good way to get the "hobby blood" flowing again. You asked what would be a good terrain project to start next and I had an idea that I would like to run by you.  A Blackblood guard tower.  I started looking through the 1st and 2nd edition rulebooks and on page 113 of the 2nd edition it shows a Blackblood walled city.  Along the gated wall there are guard posts and I thought that a free standing guard post in this "tower" design would look pretty good.
I thought maybe you might be interested in giving this a try by using a wooden dowel door knob puttied up or even a Christmas ornament and paint them gold with maybe some small crown molding/ edging for the walls around the top floor of the tower.
Well anyway, just wanted to put in an idea for you.

Good idea.  The Emperor on the Blood Throne needs good engineers to maintain the empire.

Very cool idea Von Koss.I was wondering what the architechture would be like in the World of Chronopia.

I also like the Ruin's in the Son's of Kronos book.

Loads of potential projects just need to narrow some down.

Yes, those ruins and the floating watch tower along with the funeral barge really got me thinking about Chronopia terrain for the different factions.  Alxbates, I'm afraid that your ruins are so good that I am planning on trying to copy them for my game table. ;D The One King would be most pleased.

I have been picking up some of the MageKnight castle walls that will become the outer walls of a Blackblood city. As always this is on my to do list which means it may get done before I die.....maybe......someday....if there are great advances in medical science.....or this ice storm we are having manages to suddenly freezes me to be revived 500 years later.

This is well above my artistic level but has anyone thought about trying to recreate the Dwarf Blimp or any of their ships like in the Dwarf color photo section of the new book or pages 12 and 32 of The Dwarven Labyrinth book?  I always thought those were pretty tight.

Wow, just wow  :o that is so cool, i love the amount of detail involved in the whole thing. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Also on a side note i think a dwarven flying blimp thing would look awesome.
