Title: Berlin/Stalingrad destroyed urban terrain
Post by: Petru5 on September 19, 2008, 07:13:08 AM
Hey all,

These are the pics of the Berlin/Stalingrad terrain we use for my friend's 54mm WWII games.  I was thinking they are perfect for WZ!!!  The doors and windows may be off-scale, but the buildings are beautiful!

Buildings are made of ceiling tiles, etched with a nail (using a ruler to make straight lines).  These lines can be snapped cleanly to 'destroy' the building.  The resulting 'rubble' is also used inside the buildings.  Apply expanding plumber's foam where you want to make rubble, add in gravel, sticks, broken walls and whatever else you want while the foam is wet.  When it dries, it acts as a adhesive, very solid, paintable surface.  If there's a problem viewing the pics, I have them on Photobucket.  Petru5 is my ID there as well as here (and most websites).

Yeah, it was a blast to play on that board.  If anyone noticed, the brick streets were created by taking a piece of vinyl, color it a base color, then create a stamp out of a block of wood or linoleum.  You dip the stamp in your contrasting paint color and start, well, stamping.  Easy patterns for a whole table!

No, no kits.  This particular gentleman has a degree in art education and is an art director for a school district.  What he envisions and puts together is sometimes just too incredible.  He can make the coolest spaceships out of balsa wood, split peas, spaghetti and lentil beans.  About 4-5 ships in an evening.  When painted, these ships look like they were bought from a "professional" company's line of ships.  He's the one that taught me that you can make metal grid flooring out of plastic needlework grids.  It was about the easiest thing in the world to make sci-fi decking after that!
