Title: Firstborn Assassin
Post by: Alxbates on May 31, 2008, 05:28:19 PM
IIRC this guy's called a Night Walker or something like that (man, bummer that I can't remember... haven't played in too long...)

I only have a couple Firstborn figures painted, not an entire army, so I figured I'd post this pic here instead of in the army section.

I'm a little disappointed with the photo... he looks a lot "blue"-er in the pic than he is in hand, he's actually more gray. And I swear he looks blended better in 28mm scale... blowing these pics up to six inches high really showcases the flaws... ugh... All that said, I'm still quite happy with the paintjob - nothing inspired, but still pretty good for the maybe 2-3 hours I spent on him. And this is after he sat on my painting table for 4-5 years, primed and ready to go.

So, there ya go.  My assassin.  Love the miniature, great figure, still holds up as a good sculpt today.

Nice Job Alex,

I really like this figure would make a good fighter in D&D and other systems too.

Very nice, and the army threads are for all figures of that army, of course they are not meant to detract from normal threads, but are there to assist people in finding images of figures for their armies.  As a reference or inspiration.

Alex, pics that size show every small little flaw that wont be noticed when you see it in real life. I am often quite happy with my minis until I take a picture and notice all the flaws. :)

The photos do look a little blue. i took the liberty of running your pic through the autulevels, autocolour and autocontrast in Photoshop.

Is this closer to reality?

I personally think it rocks.

Yep, Coil, that *is* better, much closer to the actual colors (although still a little blue-er than the actual figure).  I'm guessing that the blue look is from the blue background I used.

I need to get myself some photo editing software...

Thanks very much for the compliments and kind words, folks.

GIMP is a free editor that a lot of people recommend.

The GIMP is a great program, but I would suggest GIMPShop. It's still GIMP, but it's made to be a little closer to Photoshop. Since Photoshop doesn't like my Linux system all that much, I had to use something else and GIMP is a great program! :) Link is below
