Title: Bauhaus Pics
Post by: joshuaslater on April 09, 2008, 10:42:09 AM
Post painted pics of your Bauhaus forces here.  Use a direct link from photobucket or whatever place you store your pics.  If one day we get a new gallery, we can organize all the pictures accordingly.

For those of you that don't know, Dave McGee is color blind, still paints better than me, and I hate him for it!!  The photos look great Dave.  You should do a tutorial on your camo technique in a separate thread.  I'm sure a lot of us would use (or steal) your technique.

Thanks for the "kind" words, Josh.  I will do a tutorial, I promise.  Next, I have to learn how to do that new US Army digitized/pixelated camo.

I think your best bet would be some kind of stippling.  Individually painting every digital spot would take far too long.

The desert camo Hussar Kapitan is just f-c-kn-g awesome. Me and my warzone buddies will def. be "copying" that sometime.;) We just saw it and let out a Keanu Reeves "whoa". Finally someone who can make some cool camo.
And Semai99 minis: Brrrrilliant as well :)

To something different.

Max Steiner (Bauhaus Homebuilders)

Bought this mini off of Ebay, and it's "THE" max steiner from the books. Although on his cape there is a black rod coming out on his left (on the back under his arm). And in the book, the rod goes all the way behind his "arse" and under his "crotch". ;D Either the previous owner have painted it over, or the original painter did it himself after the photoshoot. I studied the cape from the books and the mini, and they are 100% match. And no one can paint that good of a copy. Yay:)

I just finished converting a Dragoon rifleman to a Sniper Specialist - be brutally honest, I can take it. ;D

I modeled the rifle from the PSG-99 - I think it came out pretty well. (Yeah, I know - I gotta work on the lighting.  I'll try to post better pics, soon)

Topkick wanted to see an urban camo version of this.  Forgive the roughness (I did it in about an hour and fifteen minutes) and forgive the flash (no time to set up proper pic)

Wow...now that I really, REALLY like. I came up with a new one myself (based loosely on the painting used to break up the silos of WWII warships). It's Dark and light grey and a bluegray. Looks pretty good. I'll try to post pics soon.

The other interesting thing color-wise it that it mimics what the desert cammo would look like at night.  Imagine a night game where all the figs on both sides were painted that way to simulate the darkness.

dmcgee1 could you please tell me what colors did you use for paintng those camos?

Would you mind if i paint whole army in desert camo?

Thanks for the compliment.  No, I would not mind if you paint your army with the scheme - go for it!

As for the desert camo on the armor, I used a light tan, a tan and a brown, and black and white for the "chips."  I then brown-washed the camouflage.  The rifle was done in the same scheme, but I used a dark black-blue for the non-camouflaged parts.  The uniform is just a tan, then brown-washed.  See this link for better pics:  http://forum54.oli.us/index.php?topic=694.0

The urban camo is, basically, identical, with a grey-blue as the base, and two darker blues for the splotches.  Again, the "chips" are black and white.  Gloves and other straps on the gear are a blue-shaded-black.  The uniform jacket is the same grey-blue, while the pants match the darker of the two blues I used on the armor.

As promised a squad of Legates with their Specs:

As with some other models not coated yet and thus the highlights come out a bit harsh.
As most of the others, who built Legates I used Ducals as backbone, got them other heads and replaced the rucksacks with
a hood. For the weapons I got them the axes and converted the AR to Shotguns ( I hope one can make out the differences...)
Just some Fluff added ( as ammopacks and grenades) and voilá:

I have just finished painting some of my brother's oldschool Venusian Rangers as he did not have time to finish the whole squad. And here is the outcome... I tried to copy the original scheme with some slight changes (cloaks, etc.). Hopefully I will get to some 2nd edition Bauhaus models soon....

And here it goes....my latest finished model....1st Ed. Max Steiner to match the previous Venusian Rangers

I have noticed just now that he has a yellow-ish tone, which is probably caused by taking the picture in a cardboard box :( will have to make another one later. In fact the colour is same cold white-blue as the rangers...

And here is the picture of the whole Venusian Ranger Squad finished....
