Post painted pics of your Dwarf forces here. Use a direct link from photobucket or whatever place you store your pics. If one day we get a new gallery, we can organize all the pictures accordingly.

You've all seen this guy, but "Give us a hug" is one of my favorites: my own converted Mauler

Arhhh so thats why you want everyone to post there pictures, for ideas ;D
-
Despite my latest Brand X adventure, I paint the occasional model!! This community has so many good painters, it's sinful we don't have a gallery. Dog's not alone, I plan on borrowing lots of paint schemes from everyone!! Bombs away, baby!

Here are some of the miniatures that I have been working on over the Holidays.

GOING BONKERS.... :o
I gots ta have better pics of your Marksman and Scavenger. I've got the Chainmail Dwarf you used and would love to see how you did it. Brilliant!!
Please tell me what model you used to convert the Scavenger.
Ace. Brill. Top Drawer.

Tha scavenger miniature was from the Mage Knight range.I think I used an arm from the 40K Catatchan Jungle fighters for the Marksman.Along with Mordheim weapons.I am sure you will have boxes full of such pieces stashed some place Josh. Most miniature addicts do ;D.
-
Yes Andy. See you in group.

Gotta love Dwarves. Short compact round ale chuggers - reminds me of myself.

There is an entire thread in the main "Painting and Terrain" forum documenting how I built this beast, but I thought I would add pics here as well.

Axe-Horn Warriors. These were the first Horned Ones I painted so I figured out my color scheme with these before I built the War Totem.

Wow and wow. Just awesome. Great work on the bases also!
-
Nice work on the "little people" I like how they look, the bases are well done too.
-
Great color scheme....Check (I'm a bigger fan of using metallic colors rather than not, but you have gone a long way in "softening" my view of it--- impressive)
Great detail on the painting work....Check (love the detail you have put into the Axe-horn Warriors' faces)
Great basing of the figures....Check (can't say I have seen this style before---definately a good thing in a world of full of common modeling/hobby styles...I will say that I'm the biggest violater...can not help it :-\ )
Just two words....Quality Work.

Thanks!
I really struggle to make metal look "realistic" with metallic paint so I've been experimenting with non-metallics. As far as the bases, I am going with a unique"theme" for each of the Chronopia armies. I decided to try and give my dwarves a "dry rocky desolate wasteland" sort of look with the ash-white rocks and the brown/dying grass struggling to grow. I kinda like how its turning out.
Soooooooo....when is the next update in the Von Koss project log? Your fans are eagerly waiting!
-
Well it took me a few months to complete these guys but they are finally done. moving the whole family across the state tends to eat into your painting time...

As usuall - just frickin awesome job. What kind of flock/static grass did you use on the bases?
-
As usuall - just frickin awesome job. What kind of flock/static grass did you use on the bases?
Thanks for the kind words!!
The static grass I use on the dwarves are from Gale Force 9. I use two different ones: "Static Grass: Arid" and "Static Grass: Winter/Dead". If you look closely you can see the two different colors (although they are pretty close). The crossbowmen came out a little "bushier" than I intended. I think I would rather the rock-to-grass ratio be a little higer.

I'm sure everyone who can't paint very well (line forms behind me) would like to know if you do comissions and if so how much per fig
-
1) Thank you for taking the time to make your pics so clear. I love to look at the color palette you have used on your models and your ability to take good clear photos helps me see the detail so much better. Good job! Only thing is, I wish I could take better pics so my models would be as clear. I think after the holidays I'll experiment in getting more quality pics up in the old project log.
2) I really like what you have done to the "gold" areas of the minis. Can you tell us how you went about doing that and what colors you used to get that "gold" look. Also, what colors did you use for the Vulture Clan Crossbowmen's gloves and capes? That looks like something I could use on some Wood Elves.
3) The Crossbowmen are superb and you have not lost any painting skill while you have been away. Your attention to detail in painting/modeling/photographing is down right inspiring.
4) I still have to go back every now and then to look at the Dark Star Warriors and the War Totem just to get a hobby fix when I'm a little slow to get painting.
Please keep going, you are on a roll with some very impressive work.

Man, I never thought about doing that. Thanks, what a great complement!
The truth is that I barely have the time to churn out the figures for my own collection. I'm too busy chasing around 2 kids most of my free time. I'm not a very fast painter either. So I will have to politely decline.

I have a decent mid-range digital camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3). After much experimentation, here's what I do. I use black poster board as a background (not sure if this helps or not but gives a uniform background). I use plenty of lighting (usually two desk lamps from 2 different directions). I also turn off the flash on the camera...flash=bad when it comes to mini pictures. And that's about it. I usually have to take 3-4 shots of the same pose and keep the best one. Sometimes its a struggle to get it to focus in on such small detail, but I just move the camera around a bit 'til it locks in.

I use almost exclusively vallejo paints. I have the "suitcases" of both their Game Colors and Model colors. The green on the vulture's cloaks and gloves are an Olive Drab undercoat with Reflective Green highlighting (I rarely use more than 2 colors to provide depth). The gold metal on the swords and armor of the vultures is a base of German Cam Black Brown with a drybrush/light highlight of Old Gold. If you are talking about their shoulder pads and armor covering their chest, its 3 colors. Base of Earth, a wash of German Cam Black Brown to get in the small cracks, and some Old Gold highlights on the edges.

Very nice Dwarves.Love the full unit of Crossbowmen.
-
They put mine to shame. Nicely done.

The Dark-Tusked Raider from my old dwarven army. Painted 1999/2000 with Revell colours.
The Rider and a Blood Totem is the rest of my old army. The another figures selled ~2001.
In my new dwarven army project i integrated the old paint jobs with new bases. I have too many respect for my "ancients" works. ;)

Nice work Coki. I can't wait to finally paint mine as I have always loved that sculpt. Come to think of it, I think that boar would look better as a Razogor (with a little green stuff, of course) for the new Beastmen from :o ...<shuffles away quietly>
...just sayin.... ;)

Nice additions to the force Coki.
What is planned next then?

I don't now. The next paint job are few termis and a dreadnought for w40k.
For my dwarven i think, it is the horned ones rider and 6er troop dark tusk fighter.
