Title: Wedge's Friend's Capitol and Dark Legion Armies for Sale
Post by: Wedge on November 19, 2007, 04:10:05 PM
My good friend Bob is getting out of miniature gaming.  He has a TON of Capitol and Dark Legion miniatures he wants to off load.  He asked me to post these for him and see if there is any interest.  If not he is going to put them on eBay.  He wants to sell it in bulk (hence the low price) and not piece-meal it.  He'll sell the Capitol Army as a whole and the Dark Legion as a whole (two separate buyers or one buyer for all of it is fine).  He's also giving away the cases that he has them in.

Here is his Capitol Army

7          Lht Infantry
1          Srg
1          Lmg
1          Medic
1          GL
1          Comm
1          Captain

14         Hvy Infantry
5          Srg
4          Hmg
1          Medic
2          RL
2          Sniper
4          Comm
3          Captain

10         Sea Lions
1          Srg
1          Lmg
2          Gren
1          Comm
1          Captain

6          Free Marines
1          Lmg
1          Tank

6          Assault Marines
1          Srg
2          Hmg
1          Gren
1          RL
1          Captain

2          Wailing Banshees
1          Srg
1          Lht Flm
1          Captain

6          Rangers
1          Srg
2          Lmg
1          Sniper

1          Captain

8          Desert Scorpions
1          Srg
2          Tank

3          Sunset Troopers
1          Srg
1          Lmg
1          Gren
2          Flm

4          Mortars w/crew

4          Orca III w/Hmg
1          Orca IV w/Hmg
1          Orca V w/Hmg
3          Orca w/Hmg

6          Purple Sharks
1          Pegasus Scout
5          Great Greys
1          Infantry major
1          Srg Carter
1          Major Joe Kowalski
1          Big Bob Watts

The army is about 25% painted to a table top standard.  That's 129 miniatures.  He is only selling it for $200 not including the shipping.  Once he knows he has a buyer he'll pack it up and weigh it to calculate exact shipping.

Here is his Dark Legion Army

1          Pretorian Behemoth
3          Pretorian Stalkers
1          Mercurian Maculator

5          Bronze Apoculapse

4          Ilian Undead w/Void
11        Ilian Legionaires

1          Unholy Carronade w/crew

4          Destroyers
2          Destroyer Srg

1          Technomancer (old style)

1          Initate Srg
1          Initate w/Hmg

3          Acolyte Srg
15         Acolytes
2          Acolyte w.Flm
2          Acolyte w/Hmg

2          Doomsday
1          Centurion

This army is about 80% painted to a table top standard.  That's 105 miniatures.  He is only selling it for $175 not including the shipping.  Same deal as above.

If you are interested send me a PM and I will tell him to delay their posting on eBay.

If it's not too much trouble, could you or your friend please take pictures of these and post them here?

Is the Capitol models 1st or 2nd ed designs?

Will he ship internationally, perhaps?

I think they are a mixture of both.  I can get him to clarify and possibly post picks.  I have seen his miniatures.  I have played against them for many years.  I have even painted some of them.

I am certain he wouldn't mind shipping internationally--he'll make certain the buyer pays exact shipping costs and not a penny over that amount.

Pics would be nice. If he planned to put them on ebay, pics would be almost a necessity anyway.

Most all of those mini's are pictured in the UWZ Book and in the earlier editions.

That's not the point.  They're mostly painted, so it would be nice if we were to see how they are painted.  Besides, if you are selling anything on Ebay, you'd better have pictures of your own.

Yeah, that plus "light infantry" could mean both the old baseball guys, and the new texas ranger kind. For example.

Okay... my friend Bob is a dork.  He left out the following miniatures in the deal.  He is adding these at no extra cost:

Hvy infantry
2 snipers
3 captain
4 hmg
4 RL
16 troopers

Lht Infantry
12 troopers
2 GL
1 lmg
1 Srg

That's 45 more miniatures.  I think he's nuts to give it away so cheap but...  ;)

Posting pics in a few minutes.

I think he took these with his camera phone, they turned out kinda crappy.  But, he has cases for all of these miniatures as well.

I'm considering acquiring SOME of your friends Capitol units.  Would that be possible?  I'm interested in the Heavy Infantry Snipers and the Grey Sharks.  I am however considering in getting ALL of his Dark Legion models.

I am also new to the game and might not be familar with the DL figures/units.  Would it be possible for him to label the different DL units?

I'm considering the Capitol lot. I had hoped the "25%" meant "one fourth of the models are painted", but hey... You've got a PM, Wedge!

Gravel,

I am not sure what you mean about labelling the different Dark Legion Models.  I have a very detailed list in the first post of the email.  What more information are you looking for.

I meant writing names on the figures themselves (maybe on the bases) so I would know what each figure is.  But it's alright if it's too much trouble.

Gravel -

I saw this just as I was about to grab a bite of lunch. When I get back I will identify the figs in the DL pix.

Okay I'm back - man, I love homemade soup on a cold rainy day.  ;D

Now for Operation DL Introduction.

Pic 4
Both squads pictured here are DL Acolytes from the DL Cult list. The cultists have an AR and  pistol. In additon, each squad has one HMG Spec and the guy with the sword is the Squad Leader.

Pic 5
Row 1: (from left to right) Billy the Heretic, DL Cult Personality / the other 3 figs I don't recognize (I'm so ashamed)  :'(
Row 2: (from left to right) Sacristans from the DL Cult list. They have a Destroyer as a squad leader, but that fig is not in this row. It is the next row.
Row 3: (from left to right) Destroyers from the DL CUlt list. The two in the middle are usually used as Sqd Leaders. Not pictured are a different pose with a sword in hand.
Row 4: (from left to right) I recognize the fig but am having a HUB (Head Up Butt) moment trying to remember the name.  ???

Pic 6
Row 1: (from left to right) The first two are Necromutants, the third fig is a Supreme Necromagus, and the fourth is a Technomancer
Row 2: (from left to right) I think the first fig is a crewmember of the cannon in the next row. Next to him is a Centurion and then 3 x Praetorian Stalkers.
Row 3: (from left to right) The Unholy Carrionade support cannon. Next to it are two crew members. The last 3 figs are Immaculate Furies.
Row 4: (from left to right) The Big Fuglies. On the left is the Mercurian Maculator and on the right is the Praetorian Beahemoth.

If you want to know the weapons each is carrying I can do it but that would take longer and require me to check a few of them against the book. I hope this helps Gravel.

That explains it as the only guy in our group that plays Ilian is Coldthunder and he is currently fielding other forces. I thought the Scions only were sculpted with sickles - didn't realize some of them had guns. As for the Apocolypts - thanks for the Head/Butt -ectomy.

Good to see that they find a home. The painted stuff looks quite decent from what I can see. These two deals are real bargains at that price.

Yeah, the Capitol stuff is nicely done.  THe pics are poor, but I know they are pretty decent.  He got them off ebay a long time ago from someone who took care in painting them.  They won't win any awards but they were way better than anything he could paint at the time.   ;D

I found out he is keeping only his Moo-guy army which of course includes a bunch of DL that I painted for him.  Thus, nothing in the DL is painted by me... can't promise that they are great paintjobs.  He followed that recipe that Kevlar posted a long time ago.  In a nutshell, he primed them black, dry-brushed them with white, leaving all the nooks and crannys still black, and then dry brush again over the white with the colors he wanted for the miniatures.  Then he did some minor detailing.  He did a decent job, just not the kind of effort I would put forth.  Even if you don't keep the paintjobs--the sheer volume of pewter he is selling at that price is a heck of a deal.  :o
