Under Wolfhead Dragoons pg. 221 it states they have survival training:3 and under equipment that they have environment suit. Is this cumlative for a +6 or is the st:3 a result of the e-suit?
-
Result of the Suit. Non-Cumulative.
-
I beg to differ, Joe. I believe that it is cumulative, as there are no rules that state that it is not, plus, my Hussars have Suvival Training: 2 and may purchase Filter Masks and Hazmat Suits, effectively making their Survival Training a level 5.
-
I based the descion on the Cybertronic forces already having their "cyber-upgrades" factored into their stat lines.
-
Is the Survival Training SA based on special training, or on equipment?
If this is based on equipment, then shouldn't the description of the Hussars, since they have been used as an example, also have the Hazmat suit listed as supplied equipment?
B.
I know, I'm causing problems again.
-
Haupt Kaptain Konrad von Juntz has no Survival Training, but comes with an Environment Suit. Check.
-
I'd like to agree with you after further review, except it bends my little kitbashed rubric a bit.
fer now, i'll give ya a tenative yes, they have a total of 6 (SIX!!) in the Surivial training area.
-
Admiral Colby's Guard can end up with an effective Survivtal Training of 9, if I can combine their SA with gear. :)
-
yea.. that's just not right.
-
they're just really good at surviving... on the sun. :)
-
Yes and the Wolfhead can reach an 8 with the filter mask.

I've done this...I didn't have to take an Environment check for an entire game, while most troops had to start testing on turn 3...
I think that I had the Guard at a Survival Training 6...
B.
and that is the reason I like the Guard

The more I look at their entry, the more I want to use them.
-
go for it dude
you know you want too.
whats one more army....really its just one more....go ahead.

-
after all, the first one's free...
... wait a minute, no it wasn't!
Besides, I do need more CNF Elites, besides my Sea Lions.
-

I use the ACG instead of the Sea Lions on the rare occasions that I dust off my Capitol force...points are the same and they are just cooler...
B.
plus, when I started doing this, I owned no Sea Lions...I do now...
-
I like them both for their fluff.
Free Marines, not so much, but I do want to do a Freedom Brigades/Free Marines Penal force, for tournies.

don't discount the Free Marines...that Ambush SA makes them absolutely deadly...if you can get them into a hardened position, they can control an entire area...
2 years ago at Origins, I played a game in which I had 2 Free Marines hold an entire flank against an Imperial army for about 4 turns, just from the Ambush ability (and some very lucky dice rolls)...

*nod* they look pretty good, it's just that I was having problems fitting them into an army concept, therefore, Penal Force IX. :)

I find that they are a good squad to use in a game in which yuo either have to 1.) Assault a hardened position, because you can arm them with a Deatlockdrum; or 2.) a defensive postion when you can take advantage of their Ambush abitlity.
I am currently working on a scenario for Origins in which the Free Marines are going to lead the assault in a Iwo Jima-type attack...for scenarios like this, the Free Marines, with their fluff, are a perfect fit...
B.
more to come on the scenario
-
does this mean I'm going to have to show up to Origins?

that's for you to decide...I think that it's a great con, but I'm also only 2 hours away from it...

I've been meaning to for the last few years, and I think I'll do it this year.

I still have pics of this infamous battle and of course a pic of the staunch Marine that didn't know that he was supposed to die. I still remember telling you that you were crazy for jumping those guys out from behind their first line of cover. B, because of that game I can never question your tactics again.

There are many machines on Ix.....
Sorry, just watched Dune the other night. :)
But yes, Origins will be cool, and I'll definatly help out as much as I can. *nod nod*
