Aeon Flux
« on: September 25, 2005, 10:30:34 AM »
HOLY CRAP! They're making an Aeon Flux movie! For those of you that don't know, Aeon Flux was (and is) the greatest animated action/sci-fi EVER! (No objections >:(). It ran on MTV for a season or two in the '90s and now they're making a movie. Check it out, you can be guaranteed that I'll be at the biggest theatre within reach the day it opens!

Have you seen the trailers for it?  ???

Don't get me wrong I liked the Cartoon (not anime, made in the states) but there is verey little of the cartoons flair in the movie, Equilibrium had a very similar setting.

I thought the trailer did a good job. Lets look at some of the aspects of Aeon Flux

-Jumping off things*
-Weird-ass machines and gizmos*
-french kissing*
-lots of guns and casualties
-crazy hair*
-flies in eyes*
-acrobatics*
-partial nudity and sex

All the things with the asterixs were in the trailer and I'm sure there's gonna be more in the actual movie. I'm not counting my henchmen before they die on this one.

Thanks for bringing this movie up. Time to think about scheduling a sitter so I can get out to the theater to see this.

'Lookin' forward to it too.  I enjoyed it in the nineties.  I think that the cartoon was open ended enough that the film could take some liberties and not destroy it for those of us that know it, but I hope they leave everything Steel Rabbit laid out in his post.   Will we ever see a Star Blazers film like this?  And how 'bout somethin' set in the Warzone or Chronopia setting?   Short of a gazillion dollar LOTR size thang, perhaps an animated short, or even some comic books.. Hmm...

I always invisioned a more enclosed archology style setting, more like Mega-City One during it's cleaner haydays. It would have taken a whole cast of people like Iggy Pop to capture the look of the characters in the old cartoon. I always thought of Iggy when I watched it.

I'm not saying it's bad, just not all that visualy close to the original. The scenes with the beads and the grass really feels like the old show.

Speakin' of Iggy, it's nice to see'em in that Motorola commercial gettin' stuffed into the phone booth.  Madonna notwithstanding.

Just watched the trailer and I think it looks promising. If the movie contains the missing two items on Steel Rabbit's checklist I am sure it'll be good.

Right on Coil.  There were some sexy bits to the animated series that may push the envelope--what's this movie rated anyway?

The official site says it hasn't been rated yet. We can always hope for an R.

So, who's playing the lead then?  And is it going to be one continuious movie or broken into mini episodes where she dies alot.

If we're lucky we'll have that NC-17 rating, even though it's the kiss of death on most movies.

Charlize Theron plays Aeon Flux. I hope they do a continuous storyline but wouldn't it be cool if they opened with one of those scenes where she kills alot of people then dies?
