Directly placed template weapon area effect
« on: June 05, 2006, 04:54:22 AM »
If I don't have LOS to an enemy model (e.g. behind a tall wall), but i can target another enemy model close by, and the directly placed template overlaps the first model too, do I hit both of them?

I know that in 2nd ed, if you were behind cover of some sort and hit by a template, there was a fifty-fifty shot of the cover taking the blast instead of the model.  I'm thinking that this rule did not carry over into this edition so the model would be hit.  Let me look into it and get back to you.

Thanks.
The thing is, with this rule, by targeting a model in front of a tall impassible wall i could hit a model on the other side of the wall... not very realistic at all.

Its not a good rule but thats the way it works. In earlier editions this was meant for flamethrowers. Treat shotguns as a ricochet hitting the guy behind the wall or agree if there's another under the templete it hits him 1st.

Dragon put it best.  change the path of the Limit to follow the outline of the interviening terrain.  IE supercede closest to farthest with closest in the path to farthest in the path.

if that doesn't work, peacemaker it.
