Prone malus

In some situations illustrated in the book the malus for being prone is indicated as a -4 to armor.
In other places it says you get a +4 to def (which is, in my opinion, more realistic: you cannot avoid attacks in a good way, but there's no reason why you should be more fragile...)

Which is the correct one?

I always went by what the body of the rules say. In this case the effects of being prone (+4 DEF) are listed on page 60 of the rule book.
It IS as bad as you think it is and they ARE out to get you!!!
