TA-6500 - What type of vehicle?
« on: July 05, 2012, 10:39:23 AM »
I have been wondering about the cybertronic "vehicles" in UWZ once again lately, and while a quick search on the forums provided me with some much needed answers (that the EDD and the TA are indeed vehicles and AIs at the same time), there has come up another question: Most of the time, the type of vehicle (bike, flying, skimmer, tracked, walker and wheeled) is quite obvious, but since it is not mentioned in the actual vehicles profiles, there are some cases in which such a designation becomes difficult. One of them is the TA-6500 Reconnaissance Vehicle. The only clue there is are the definitions in the UWZ rulebook:

Quote from: UWZ
Wheeled: This type represents any Vehicle with four or more wheels and is the most common type of Vehicle found on the Warzones of the Mutant Chronicles. [...]

Bike: This type of Vehicle moves along the battlefield on two to three wheels and is frequently used to reconnoiter the enemy or make decisive blows against isolated positions. [...]

Now, the TA obviously only has three wheels, so does that make it a bike? Because it sure doesn't look like one.
Due to the implications the type of vehicle has on the game, like ability to turn and moving through rough terrain, this is actually quite important to know, so please let me know your thoughts.

Sincerely, Niart

If I had to choose, I would vote, "Wheeled."  It's big - bigger than a Vulkan or an Orca.

I do recognize, however, that the intent is that it may, simply, just be a big bike.

If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

As an example the Fenris BIKE is huge (size 4) and has 3 wheels, too.

It looks like that size doesn't matter in this case but I don't play Cybertronic and I have no idea which kind of vehicle it is.

Maybe it makes sense to check the previous versions of warzone.

In 2nd edition this is a Type: Closed / Wheeled vehicle.

There is no references for it in the 3rd edition rules to be any bike of sort, just a large sarcophagus on wheels which got a auto canon on top.

The rules state though that to be a wheeled vehicle in 3rd edition it needs 4 or more wheels. So since this one got 3 it's a Bike according to all the rules I know. Perhaps a bit on the top, closed, double armoured and with a canon on it, but still a bike. :)

I am, now, in agreement with Pax and micmellon.  Nice points, folks.

I, too, believe it to be a bike.

Would be good to put it into the FAQ.

Will have to get  concensus from the rest of the team, for that.
