Let's get this party started. We played 1200 points each. Desert board, no special effects, except the red Mars terrain only blocked line of sight, but was passable without a climb check. It's not a bad way to portray dunes.
Does the bottle block line of sight?
Here's how the cards went down:
And how the models shook out:
I thought I deployed well. My two squads of Vulture Crossbowmen were on either sand dune, and my Mallets and Swordsmen were going out front to guard them. Dalton ran one unit of Firstborn Swordsmen and a Judge into the Crossbow bolts, and my Totem and transformed Keeper finished them off. I was off to a good start!!
Here comes the pain:
Dalton brought the Iron Guard up the middle so my one squad of Crossbows was near useless, and I had to redeploy both squads. Anything redeployed in either Chronopia or Warzone usually means the kiss of death. Dalton ran his Burning Blades (proxied Macemen) and other Swordsmen up the side with a Judge, Repulsar Knight, and a Black Sister Champion. I missed my fear saves for the Legion, saw everyone cut down, and only the whiskey could help me. Sigh.
I was on a winning streak with this force from the last two games, but the Firstborn really brought it. My Totem killed the Repulsar Knight, but those Burning Blades are badass!!
End notes: I had a squad of Crossbows and less than half a squad of Legion who were feared and panicked. I called the game and surrendered. The Dirty Birds will be back however. Count on it.
