What to paint next for T5?
« on: March 21, 2011, 04:36:55 PM »
Hello all. Looking for advice. Realistically, I only have time to paint 1 more Capitol squad before T5 is upon us (pesky work and child, getting in the way of my painting  ;) ). I'm happy with the CGF squads that I have painted already, but I wanted to also try a CNF squad this year. I know I can still play figures without paint on them, but there's nothing like placing a painted squad on the table. So, my options are (what I have the minis for):

Sea Lions
Free Marines
Assault Marines
Admiral Colby's Guard

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to hold off on the ACG for the time being. Suggestions?

Also, anyone else trying to squeeze in 1 more squad before D-day? If so, what are you painting?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I was, at first, going to suggest ACG, as they are well-rounded regarding environmental rules.  Then, I read further down.  If not ACG, then I have always liked shooting at Sea Lions.  There's something sweet about counter-sniper operations.

As for trying to squeeze in one more squad; I am trying to get several armies painted (completely) prior to T5:TCSB.

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

I think you should do the sea lions. Guerilla and survival training are always good. Not to mention the sniper and forward observer you can field.
Always look out for number one, but don't step in number two.
What do you mean Flash Gordon approaching? OPEN FIRE!
The entire Capitol Army.

Thanks for the suggestions! So far, It looks like Sea Lions. I was leaning that direction; I hear the Assault Marines play well, but visually, they don't look that appealing to paint. I'm holding off on the ACG for a while because I'm playing with different camo patterns and probably won't have decided on one to my satisfaction until next year's Talamania.

Well, Sea Lions it is (I actually decided after reading everyone's posts, but haven't replied 'til now). 2 painted already, just 9 more to go (I may leave out some of the specialists that I won't be playing if time doesn't permit).
