First post – always awkward
« on: March 09, 2011, 07:46:11 AM »
Being new, I thought to introduce myself. Er, hello! *cough*

So, where to start? I´m from Germany, been playing Chronopia since it came out aeons ago, and still consider it one of the best sets of rules for fantasy tabletop wargames. Ever since the demise of Chronopia in miniatures stores, I´ve been making my own counters in a way similar to the Constructible modules (which I was delighted to find here) and found it a good way to get more variety in battles (since the outlay is minimal, one can collect large armies and experiment with many different compositions). Being an illustrator, I´ve drawn most of the counter pictures myself.

If I had to pick a culture from the rich Chronopia background it would be the Blackbloods, for similar reasons that I play a Turanian in LARP: a culture of silk and spice, with all the trappings of decadence. Yet scratch one, and the wild warrior of the steppe will suddenly surface from under the thin veneer of civilisation. A close second in my favour are the Beast clan dwarves or the Elven houses.

I´m glad for the opportunity to chat with fellow enthusiasts! So, well met, and please pretend my English is not as bad as my manners.

Welcome aboard, you'll find that the forest is filled with wild creatures.

I play chronopia a "bit", although warzone was the reason i first came here. I do feel that the system is well made. I go with Sons of Kronos myself, typically fielding Blade Maidens and Black Sisters.

Feel free to share your work too, always interesting to see what others come up with :)

Will do! – though I might have to censor some, esp. since you mention Sisters and Maidens... What are the forum´s rules on male and female nudity?

I wouldn't know, though typically people around here are old enough to judge on their own. There might be forum rules forbidding it, though, but i am not savvy enough to know those.

Imho:
Given the violent and gratuitous nature of both Warzone and Chronopia worlds and art, i would guess that mild nudity wouldn't be offensive. Perhaps a warning with NSFW would be appreciated for people browsing from offices.

Okay, I´ll just leave out the Berserks and some of the demons...

I say, just link to the files you are worried about instead of making inline image links. Then put up a warning, that way people at work don't have to worry. I'd hate to not see any good work someone did.

I'm a Devout fan myself, but I have Firstborn, Dwarves, SoK, Stygians, and a little elves. I'd like to get some Blackbloods but I had to cut myself off somewhere.

Test. Here´s a Demon Wing – oh well, full frontal nudity, come to think of it, but I don´t think anyone will complain on this one.

Orc double mounted Kutara.

Orc Assault Warrior leader.

I scribbled most of those – it´s impossible to draw or paint an entire army with all the niceties, but then it´s the same with miniatures, innit?

That's very impressive, thanks for sharing. Somehow you managed to capture Chronopia's vibe in your work.

Welcome!

Nice pictures indeed! I think what the game needs is a new internet edition (printing on demand/sold as PDF). If it ever happens, illustrations should be in black and white since it would need be printing-friendly. I think your art would be perfect for that!

Thanks! Actually those are scribbles – if I can find them I´ll post a few fully fledged pictures. If I remember correctly, I drew some Imperials for a German supplement for the old Mutant Chronicles game back in the day.

The idea of a print on demand or public domain version of Chronopia is quite a good one. Who holds the rights currently?

Here´s a picture I used to get the Ogre-to-Goblin scale right when I created the counters for my Blackblood army. I just took all the scribbles, cut-and-pasted them on top of each other and resized them to get an idea of the correct scale. I think I made a similar one for the Devout army, but I´ll have to look.

This new picture is great.I love the way you get to see the size difference.

I would love to see the Devout one too.
