unfinished figs
« on: December 09, 2009, 12:28:43 AM »
ahoy.  it'll be a long time before i paint these, so i figured i'd show them as is. got a bit of epoxy and figured i'd do a few minor modifications i've been wanting to do. will add a modified ezoghoul tomorrow.

in the mc fluff books you often see inquisitors with power stabilizers, so i added a few to these guys. true to the fluff, the inquisitor majoris has more power stabilizer tubes than the inquisitor, but both have less than the keeper of the art (who has 6. shown for comparison). the small book of law comes from an old lord of the rings set. the keeper also has one tied to his belt in the back.

in the fluff you also read that nepharites of algeroth love having customized superweapons such as nazgaroths, so i figured these guys deserved more than just azogars. there's a particular neph in the algeroth book who is described as carrying a puker he took from a bauhauser he impaled on his top headspike.

notice all the extra spikies and warts.

Great work-especially the claw!

thanks for the comments. finally charged the camera so here's the ezoghoul. i didn't do the tail, and the swordhand was missing so the only appropriate bit i found was the spiked tentacles.

Wouldn't want to face him while trying to escape a Citadel with a loose band of fellow doom troopers representing several corporations while mowing down minions that get in my way. Oh sh*&* we tried that also.

hehe. the obvious solution is you shoot a rival doomtrooper in the knee when no one else is watching,  then make a run for it.

ahoy all. raided the bits box at a local store recently and got some more stuff to do minor conversions with.  it'll be at least a year before i can start painting these so i'll show these as-is.

first up is Veez's awesome necrotransport.  at the risk of "GWing" it up too much, i took the trophy racks from an abbadon the despoiler mini and placed them on the back of the apc. i meant to remove the space marine head on it and leave only skulls, but theres also a certain appeal to having a GW space marine's head on the back of a warzone dark legion vehicle  :P

i also found a headless neph of demno at the store, so i took an alien head that was loose and puttied it up to make the nepharite look like a beefed up version of the long-necked mutant chronicles nepharite that was available back in the day.

this last one i really like. the original model is a necromunda ganger. her plasma gun is supposed to be pressed against her body, pointing forward/down. i used some putty to make her hold her gun in a more heroic one-handed style. this left her without a left hand so i attached a spare mourning wolf claw, and used some chord (which i may replace since it is too thick at the end) to connect her  repositioned gun to the backpack. i added a skull to her loincloth since imperial is fond of skull iconography and now i have a custom mourning wolf flamethrower specialist.
