Well, been doing some experimenting with terrain for a short while. Figured I wanted to share what I have been experimenting with. :)

My first hill, it's starting to take shape.

Another low hill and in the lower half a experiment of a barricade.

Barbed Wire, you can never have enough barbed wire in Warzone.

I like the terrain.  Are you using foam for those rocks?  Just curious.  How did you do the barbed wire (and I agree, you can never have enough). :)

Rocks are made out of low-density Polystyrene piece I got from something my better half bought at the store. Cut with a sharp carpet knife, primed with grey (black and white mixed) hobby acrylic colour and glued together. Then cracks are filled with filler.

Barbed wire was made with a 1 inch wide and 3 inch long corrugated card, metal wire rolled around a pen and then cut in wished length. Some filler on-top of the card to cover ~1/4th of the barbed wire then left to dry with a weight on top to avoid the filler to bend the card as it dry. This kept the wire in place once dry. Then painted with more cheap acrylic hobby colours from the paint store, finally a layer of p.v.c. glue applied on-top of the filler either grass or sand poured on the glue. Shake of, let dry. done! :)

Got these pieces in the work as well. Ruin barricades. So far only the glues pieces together on card pieces and cracks filled with filler.

Note: Made out of the remains of the materials used for my hills. It's true that you should never throw anything away. The thin pieces that look like pillars are the thin pieces I was very close to throw away for thinking they were to small to use for anything.

Will probably be painted in a Light Gray colour and carved slightly to resemble pieces of destroyed buildings.

Not finished yet, but this is the results of some dark grey acrylic colour, painted with a lighter grey colour and last dry brushed two-3 times in even lighter tones. The "hill" got a dark green hue atm.

Two small rock formations. Testing some new colours and also the use of sand and grass

Made out of the same polystyrene as above. :)

So is this the cheapo packaging styrofoam inserts or the construction grade stuff?

Looking good BTW.  Once I get to Texas I will most likely build a bunch o terrain.  I already have a huge western town I gotta ship.

The packaging styrofoam as you call it. I'm actually looking to get myself the construction grade but so far I'm mostly experimenting with what I can do so the "free" styrofoam work just fine.

I would suggest just use the construction grade stuff for flat table terrain if you don't wanna use minis on the table top.  The package stuff looks fine.  I usually add a layer of light weight spackle to cover the surface to hide the original texture so it looks less styrofoamy.

Had some time today to work a bit more on my pieces. Currently testing different methods. Turns out the new glue I bought eats straight trough the material though, despite me buying it with the requirement that it should not do that. That's why there's "water" on my top image, it almost ate trough 10mm so I had to do something with it. heh

The terrain almost in action. I made a small battlefield, sadly it only includes some of my Capitol forces to give it justice. <.<

Base been covered in grass.

Before image:

A small wall. Quite handy

Ruined building parts.

Another hill, as seen in previous post it's now complete.

First image: upper right corner, dull grey block.

Some desert terrain, a bit out of place on this grass but it manages.

Some rocks on grass:

Very useful for infiltration cover.

That's all the terrain I have made so far. :D Going to aim a bit higher now when I have had the time to experiment a bit with different colours and shapes.

Solid work!
