Templates for Foamcore Buildings
« on: November 25, 2009, 05:43:19 PM »
I'm working on templates for making foamcore buildings, and could use a bit of feedback.  I worked out these files and would like them compared to a variety of figures, so if you might, can you print out one or two of these and compare them to what you have.

The dotted lines represent the floors, also please print them without scaling to ensure that they are correct.

Thanks guys,

With what exact aim do you want them compared Glenn?
Could you be a bit more specific about that? Or is this only a problem for me not being a native speaker?

The right measure to the different minis or either systems of games?
Or for the usability with a special game?

Hereīs what I can say:

Works well for Warzone Minis of the newer sculpts in reference of the proportions.
For the older ones it is a bit too small ( in height as well as in width).
You canīt put vehicles into the buildings, too small.
newer associated armaments could fit (as ducal mounted HMG Teams) older ones wonīt (HMG 85t)
Mounted troops wonīt fit either.
Bases greater than 1" wonīt fit, but as I see it that is the standard size anyway.
Managing movement in these buildings could be hard beacuse of the dimensions of the building itself.
For my liking the windows should be a bit higher than they are now.

All in all fine buildings, congrats!

btw: I like the building with the rectangular windows better than the other one

Lopis, did you print it with scaling, the door frame is 1.5" wide, should be plenty for most figures?

Anyways, I just wanted to make sure most generic infantry would fit nicely, all I have is a few Space Marines and a pile of AT-43, which all fit fine.  Oh and Lopis, I figure most people would make ruins with these, not intact buildings, because 7 inches or so wide is not very big.  That is something I never mentioned though.

No, I didnīt print it with adjustment of size. Plain as it was.
But I use normally the standard 1"-bases. They fit nicely. The next greater ones I have are 2" in diameter for round ones or 2" qudrats. I just used what I have but I donīt know what other sizes would be the next greater standard Bases.
For the normal Troopers works pretty fine!

Alright, well than that would be appropriate, really what figure on a 2" base would fit in a building.

Hey All,

Buddy of mine had a great idea.  He found a wallpaper with a very stonelike texture.  He applied to foamcore then painted them grey.

Is it this wallpaper?

I am using that for some other things, I am just waiting for it to arrive, found a roll on ebay for $10.
