Worst Job
« on: May 29, 2009, 06:14:22 PM »
Post here yor worst job(s) ever.

Mine was working at Little Ceaser's Pizza.

Never could eat one again. Still smell like onions (or at least think I do)

Alos worked at a phot-processing plant. Mandatory OT as a salary employee meant sometimes working for less than min wage. Management did not like it when I pointed this out to them.

they never do.

I think working cold storage as a full time employee and never getting a full week of work, being forced to use equipment even Marines would refuse to use because they weren't safe and being frozen all night...  is pretty damn bad.

Heh, I worked as a home salesman for a few months.

at least 12 hours work day (used to be more like 15h), with payment being 100% dependent on what I sold that day. Easy to say, it was not worth it. Specially if I split it out across the hours for a day to see what I earned an hour. A good day, I earned perhaps 50-75% of a minimum wage had been if I worked hours with hour pay with minimum payment. Some days it was 0. Seriously, not worth it.

i worked at a rehab. i very, very quickly learned to lose any sense of compassion for the "victims" of addiction, when most turned out to be gang-member teenagers who did not want any help but were forced to be there by the state. very unpleasant job and i quit after a few months.

"victims" of addiction

they are, and they canīt help to be a**h**** (or winey puddles, esp. true for alcoholics).

after all they are, beside the drugs, just young ppl. with few life-experience and guidanance..  remember "lord of the flies" (now with drugs).

*edit* my worst job was unloading trucks with big boxes of shoes, put them in the small boxes and later collect orders from the storage.
not as bad as other jobs here, but still back and feetpain every day...

The one I couldn't get. I've worked all kinda gigs and I liked them all especially since it was better than the alternative -- being unemployed

While I agree with Top that being unemployed sucks, I'd have to say that my worst job - ever - was as a diswasher at a local restaurant.  Made $5 an hour, and was non-stop from 7 -12 pm, Friday nights.  So, $25 per night, and the loss of Friday nights for fun during my teen years - it sucked.
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

working for this company called Excelsior Entertainment...god the boss was such a slave driver, and we weren't allowed breaks, or time for sleep, and only got fed once a month. :-D I had to take the shot

Worked security at a sunoco plant, 9pm-5am 7-days a week....was about 300 yrds from one of the flame towers and when that thing went up I would dive under my desk. Just consider it the worst for fear of life and not getting extra pay for it.

I worked at a McDonalds for about an hour in High School... when I saw "McLard" written on the fry oil boxes, I walked out.  As far as I know there's still a paycheck for four dollars sitting in their safe...

I had a great job working as a civilian technician in my Air Guard unit, it's still the highest paying job I've ever had, but it was ridiculously stressful.  There were incredible union politics issues in the shop - the shop chief had 'retired on the job', and the three guys who were up for his position all thought that the best way to show their 'leadership' was to make my life hell.  I remember one occasion when I was standing up on a scaffold, rivet gun in hand, ready to do a simple, apprentice-level patch repair on a KC-135R, and the three of them were standing at the base of the scaffold arguing over the best way for me to do the work.

I used to wake up in the morning, feeling fine, then as soon as I realized that I had to go to work, I'd get a splitting headache.

I quit after less than three months, and it was a good decision (I was too young and politically/socially inexperienced to know how to work at a job like that anyways), but I do miss the pay and benifits...

We had a saying in the military ROAD - Retired on active duty.

It happened mainly to the older NCO's who were retiring in the near future.

They would pretty much train their replacement(s) and drink coffee/smoke/B.S. all day long.

Some did not do this though.

When they did retire they usually had a hard time with it. Most were bored out of their minds since they were used to the military lifestyle.

A lot kicked the bucket within 10-15 years of retiring since they were still smoking/drinking/eating like they did when they were in the military.

In the Army we kill more people, get more tattoos and drink more beer before 9:00 than most people do all day.

Gamestop..store manager.

Really?  I managed a Babbage's (predecessor to Gamestop) for 2 years.

My worst job was only my worst job because I had a micro-managing boss that was only good for brown-nosing and acting like he was still the PR guy.  Still, that job opened my eyes to the rut my life was in and spurred me on to get my Masters...so I could be in the rut I'm currently in!

I've seen some crappy jobs on Dirty Jobs but I think the worst would be the squeegee guy for the porn booths.  My worst job was when I worked at a laundry.  It was really monotonous, minimum wage, and I got my hands burnt a lot.
