Imperial for 800
« on: May 19, 2009, 01:12:27 PM »
Hi

I'm looking for very good squad Imperial for 800 ptk

My idea is:

ISC x 8         = 8 x 16 + 2 x 27(agent)               = 182
trencher x 5       = 5 x 20 + 23(stg) + 34(sniper)     = 157
Gold lions x 5      = 5 x 26 + 31 (stg) + 2 x 30 (lkm) = 247
Baracuda x 2      = 2 x (48 + 10 AP)                      = 116
Murdoch                                                       = 43
Imperial Colonel   = 52 + 3 (Laser Optic Gun Sight)   = 55

I can only speak for ISC (I use them myself) found them to be pretty awesome for the point cost.
SMG's on cheap trooper rule.

I think this will work very well. Good combination of activations, leadership, down range firing (AV and AP). Let us know how it works.
Always look out for number one, but don't step in number two.

Hmmm,

what´s the terrain going to be?
The ranges for RC?
And what are possible opponents?
Standard fighting to death ore mission obejectives (the same for all players or distict ones)?

Could give a clue to what you are going to need..

The GL are 5 + 1 required Sgt + 2 lmg. That is correct. Please look into FAQ:

Page 36: Specialist Buying Criteria

Q: How many specialists may I have in a squad?

A: The standing ratio for grunt squads is four required models for each one optional specialist. The standing ratio for elite squads is three required models for each one optional specialist. A few units have unique requirements that will be listed in their description. If the squad leader of the squad in question is required, then he counts toward the total required models in the squad.

There is still the questions about the mission. What is the task of the force and how is the enviroment and the board?

In Poland we play for 800 points.

1. Becouse the game is fast, not like on 1200.
2. We can play 3 games in a day on tournament

The team have to be uniwersal, ready to fight with Vulkans and Viktors (powergamers team) or a lot of Undead Legionnaires or other . Im thinking to change Rams Air Cavs for Hedgehog Necromower.

I've got also crazy idea fight only The Wolfpacks: Wolfbane Commandos, Wolfbairn, Warhounds and Hedgehog Necromowers

It is too bad, but you can't take the Necromower and the Golden Lions in the same force.
The Necros are Wolfpack.
I played last time my first main Wolfpack force. It is fun and if the board has enviroment with limited view and/or a lot of cover you will have a great chance, too.
If necessary you can take still some rangeweapon support like non-Wolfbanes grunt troops or the BBs/Stromtrenchers.
If you think the CC will take longer the Trenchers with Deadshot are a good choice to speed up the CC. ;D

This I know, for example I'm very sad that I can't take my likely Officer Timothy MacGuire with Gold Lions :(

In fight only wolfpack I also interested to other from Warhounds elites. I must check fight with only wolfpack. :)

I personally would throw out a squad of the ISC and get another Trencher squad without spec.

Then I would cut out one GL and one of the lmg specs an additional an Barrcuda and get a Hurricane Walker of your choice (I´d take the Guardian).

Move one Trencher Squad with the Walker for covering him and keep the other sniper in the back.
The Rest of the Trenchers goes with longer Range and the AR with the Barracuda.
Strategically place the GL and keep the ISC´s on the move.

Colonel in cover for Initiative and Murdoch with the ISC for TacSense.

The points should suffice and you stay maneuvarable for many tactical options.
You have left 14 point if I calculated right.
Throw then out one Trencher of the big squad plus the Laser optic of the colonel (you don´t need it anyway ;-)) and get a Trencher Captain for the points.
Now with 2 points left grab a gasmask an kick some ass  ;D

But I´m no Imperial player.
Always saw them on the other side of the field and it never ended well for them   :o.

But if I had to hurt me i would try the proposed force.

There is a mistake in your plan. You have only one support slot and with the Hurricane and the Barracuda you have two support units in use.

Do make the choice you have to know the enviroment. Sniper and Barracudas are only the best choice if the view is without limits. Otherwise take the Hurricane and HMGs.

Uh yeah you´re right.....

Forgot that you buy Barracudas as Teams of two.
Just wanted to throw out one and wanted to swap it for the Hurricane.

I´m no great friend of RL´s.
Just throw him out and get a good Individual.
If you want to keep a RL make one Trencher Squad a Regular Squad with RL Spec.
Or what is even more fun:

For the proposed Force get a Stinger Hurricane Walker instead of the Guardian.
Throw out the remainig Barracuda.
Ádd a HMG spec to the Trenchers.
Swap the lmg Speg of the GL for a Tankhunter.

Leaves you additional 11 Points for Extra Ablative Armor for some Trenchers and the ISC Agents ;-)

Ok

We have 27.06.2009 tornament "Sandstorm"

All battle are on desert. There is a lot minus to RC.

I got new idea. :)

ISC x 5 + agent
ISC x 5 + agent
Imperial Colonel
Wolfbane Commandos x 4 + stg + hmg
Wolfbane Vanquisher
Elder Chieftain
Warhounds x 4 + stg
Hedgehog Necromower x 2

If you fear the waepons malfunction, then why include heavy fire squads with smg´s and Hmgs?
Because I don´t see the - to RC in the desert.....Or did I overread some combat fatigue rules?
Because this would affect CC the same....

Is there heavy terrain on you field ?

I would propose the following:

4 Stormtrencher + Sgt + Flamer Spec = 173
4 Mastiffs + Handler = 114
4 Trenchers + Sgt + Sniper Spec = 137
4 Headhunters + Sgt = 152
Trencher Cpt = 36
Imp Colonel = 52
3 Fenris Bikes = 132

Environment Suit for Trencher Cpt. and Imp. Colonel = 4

What did you field and what was the outcome?
