Converted Plastics
« on: January 18, 2006, 07:08:29 AM »
Hi there Folks,

got my Hands on some old plastic Bauhaus and Imperial Troopers and did some thinking. Those Sarges look something boring, imho. So, i did a little magic with greenstuff, clippers and scalpell (Not to forget about the glue ;) )

What i came up with is this (first, the Bauhaus guys):

Groupphoto

Now, on to the detail. I`ll try to explain how i did it.

No big deal here, simply cut of from the normal base, glued some wryer splinter on (superglue) and added some bird-sand for prime-basing.

Simple reposition of the Arm. Cut off right where the ankle is, file down the upper side and glue in place. Fill the gap with some green stuff (use some superglue to get it fixed where you want it, keep your tools wet. I use spit.)

Back side view.

Realy easy to do, just try it out.

Now on to the third:

Here I have cut the original pistol with hand right behind the glove. Now i clipped of the complete shoulder + armor without damaging the oter details. Filing everything smoth and round.

Now clipp of an Trooper arm at the shoulder. Be aware that you shouldn“t damage the arm or shoulderarmor here. The rest is we put in our Bitz-Box.

File it clean, fit it on the Sarge and glue it on. Clipp the new arm off, where the glove would begin and glue it in place.

Next step, almost there.  ;D

Fill all the gaps with green stuff, flatten the back site like on the Photo (use your imagination a bit)

Now, flatten some greenstuff and cut out a little pizza-piece, to simulate the little armor plate located under the big one. (take a close look at the other arm for example.)

Done... for this time  :D

Good Karma to you dragonlordgames!!!

My 56 model Ducal Militia force will definately benefit from this! ;D

Although, it will take a lot of time for them all to benefit.

Officers and Specialists first!! 8)

If you paint them,  I'd really like to see a picture.

Sooooooooooo  ;D ... didn“t prime them yet, after adding my primersand to the bases of my 35 Ducals I had some ideas in my mind and added some flavor (to leaders and specialists ;) ):

With the target to only use generic material or original stuff (no imports from other game systems or toys) I made some additional goodies:

I clipped off the grenades and the knive from one of the Bauhaus Backpacks and added the grenades to one of the Sarges, the knive to the other one (where i screwed some detail. Now you can“t see the damage anymore and the Sarge has a bad Surprise for his opponent in HtoH.)

In addition i made a pressmold out of Greenstuff of the Bauhaus Symbol (I don“t like waterslide-decals so much, and save those for the grunts) and added it to my models.

Here a close look at 2 of my Specialist-Bodies.

More to come... painted guys and such... iff no more ideas pop ;)

I like it Kudlaty.  I think it adds character both to your forces and to the game.  Keep up the good work!

This is really sweet.....

I am getting Ideas for both of my plastic armies.  All on one thread.

Seriously though.   I love the modifications that you can do with plastic!

Nice Job.  It gives your army...  Real Individuality!
