1. Ensure I make it to Talamania IV. Missed III, I and II were a blast.
2. 1000pt Capital force painted 100%
3. New Jungle Board
4. Chariot for the races

1. Should not be a problem
2. Working on them currently
3. FInishing my jungle terrain - Have 40 of 65 60 mm bases allready
4. Chariot is 1/2 done.

Got some work to do but stumbled on a really neat painting shortcut (not dipping).

Apparently, we gotta ask, so I'll do it - Tim, enlighten us, please? (note, if you make a statement, it turns into a question simply by adding a question mark at the end of the statement ;D)
If sing, sang, and sung, sink, sank, and sunk, and drink, drank, and drunk, how is it that it isn't bring, brang, and brung, think, thank and thunk, and ding, dang, and dung?

Don't even get me started about bad, badder and baddest.  Run, ran AND run...again?  C'mon!

OK, I was going to wait to post some pics but I will post the shortcut now.

I like to use GW paints as you all know, I am used to their consistancy etc. I bought some of the new inks they have and tried them.

I found that they work very well indeed. I undercoated (after prime coat) with grey (mid tone) and I merely applied a consistant (not too generous, not too light) coat of the new black ink. The effect mimic what looks like an oily gun metal sheen. It is better to look at up close but I will post pictures in the off to the races II thread.

I plan to use this shortcut on assault marine armor.

Always look out for number one, but don't step in number two.

Pictures posted in Off to the races II.

I ordered 4 additional GW Inks and they are expensive. I will try a "magic" wash solution on a test Hirst art mold piece to see if it works as well.

Magic wash formula:

1p Future floor finish (for non-wax floors)
4p water
Black Ink

Just for s and giggles:

Weathering formula:

2p gloss varnish (I use Liquitex matte varnish - much less expensive)
1p Chestnut ink
1p brown ink
5p water

Rust:
Fiery Orange paint
water
gloss varnish (I use Liquitex matte varnish - much less expensive)

Rust effect can be made with Tamika weathering kit (Doc O'briens also)
or
Weathering pen from woodland scenics (train stores carry them)

Gloss varnish requires a Matte/Dull coat spray/brush on application to get rid of the shiny effect.

Linda and I are confirmed for T4. I will most likely be bringing a new player to the fold, Brian Barnes. We also may be seeing Damian Decarpentier too....
Both awesome dudes and great gamers, and they are new so we can slap them around before they get all the rules and start dishing it back....

Looking forward!

I see... so your warzone fu has fallen to the point of needing new meat to beat.  Very sad...  I am sorry to hear this. ;) ;) ;)

Anyways, glad to hear you can make it there and I hope to make the next one.

Well...

Who ever said it never rains in Southern California.... never lived here.  Since I got here in January, about a third of the days have seen rain.  Some of it torrential.  Now, I know it's the rainy season here... but damn.

As to where the next leg of this tour goes, all I know now is I'm going somewhere to get shot at.  Don't know which place yet.  Far cry from what I was asked to come and do but thats Uncle Sam.  Bait and switch a specialty.  ::)

Yeah yeah... you and Linda have had a standing invite to Reading since Les and I moved here. :p  At some point, we will get together.  Not till December at least though- thats when I am supposed to be back for good.  :)

Consider that an IOU. :)

My unit (old National Guard unit - Artillery), had the same thing happen - guess what (At Fort Dix) you are now heading to Afghanistan instead of Cuba - great.

Luckily, I had fulfilled my commitment to Uncle Sam prior to the activation.
