Rights to Warzone & Chronopia?

Do you know anything about EE's rights on Warzone & Chronopia ending at the end of this year?

As far as I know, there is a review of their rights which should happen in February this year. Paradox will then determine if they grant them the roghts for a further period.

I think this is a question that only the two parties, Excelsior and Paradox, can answer. There is no mention of it in the public material available from Paradox (annual reports etc).

tHe_MaN do you have a source for that date?

Courtesy of Coral Beach, our revered French Mutant Chronicles Elder ;o)

In February 2001, Paradox announced on its website that the Kult and Chronopia/Mutant Chronicles licences were ceded to two companies, respectively 7ème Sercle and Excelsior Entertainment. Shortly after, in an interview in the French magazine Casus Beli the team of 7ème Sercle explained that they had as obligation to release at least one product on the Kult licence before its term 5 years later.
It is thus reasonable to assume that EE was submitted to the same duties as 7ème Sercle, so January-February this year should be a moment of accounting with Paradox.

That's all I have ;o)

Myself and at least two other people on the forums have contacted Paradox and been told EE's licenses had expired and will not be renewed.  New negotiations will begin in March for interested parties.

Meanwhile let's not panic and instead wait and see how things unfold.

As I have mentioned in another thread these forums will stay up until a new home can be found for them.

not to add to any panic.
but I do have a few questions.

I was wondering "if" the rights of the game goes to another company what about the rules itself (the game engine).   Is the new buyer force to make up a new rule set?

with the lose of warzone and chronopia (the games themself will live on with the new rights holders) ....will this be the end of EE?

That we do not know.

I guess that is part of what they talk about with Paradox.

So I guess again that the answer is "Wait and see".
