From what I understand about the Hasbro/WotC relationship (based on HeroScape forums, reports, etc), it's an uneasy one at best.  Hasbro basically leaves WotC alone.  They use different distribution models and their development departments are completely separated.  Actually, the two businesses are in completely different states (Hasbro = RI and WotC = WA)!  It's kind of like Hasbro says "We own you, but do what you want to do."

Opportunity lost on both parts to be honest.
VeezCon products:  Not as good as if they had been actually produced by a real figure company, but better than using your shoe to proxy with...sort of!

Perhaps.  WotC was successful before they were acquired by Hasbro and they feature games that Hasbro wouldn't otherwise touch, thus the shift of HeroScape to them from the mainstream.

For HS in particular, it may help save the game (or at least keep it wround longer).  W-M and the other big boys are hesitant to buy any more HS stuff due to lackluster sales (by their reckoning) of the latest expansions.  WotC serves best in the FLGS niche, which is where HS is headed.  There is a core (corp?) of dedicated HSers that snatch up new stuff whenever it's released.  Again, not enough to make waves in big box circles, but definitely enough to make HS stuff worthwhile for FLGS purchasing.

They are re-releasing Wave 1 later this summer, which had the Roman Legionnaires and Orcs.  Yay!  I'll have more than enough Roman figs for my gladiator game!

Okay.  I didn't want to pressure you, as I know it's a significant time commitment.   The next one is in mid-September, so keep that in mind.

I'll post some post-Recruits stuff in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, if anyone wants me to keep an eye out for something, however random it may seem, let me know.  The Flea market and several of the vendors usually have odds and ends that are great buys.

Well, I got some good buys at the convention:

WZ stuff:
I found a box with 14 Bauhaus WZ figs in it (Venusian Rangers, Dragoons and Hussars, with sergeants), plus miscellaneous other figs (like some Skinnies from Starship Troopers).  I also found a Cardinal Dominic.  Finally, I got some sweet Full Thrust Dreadnoughts for cheap!

Also, the games I ran went well (Full Thrust and a F-1 racing game called Going the Distance).  Crowded tables for both with lots of onlookers.  The games I played (.45 Adventures pulp horror game, All Things Zombies "Hannah Montana v the Zombies" and a demo of Ambush Z! by Ambush Alley Games) were easily learned and a hoot to play!

I have 3 Skinnies, plus an ape that is posed to look like he's shooting a heavy machine gun (like the guys on the backs of Orcas).  I'm still looking for Rasputins.
